Who's arguing that? The deal that's been thrown around would bring back Kessler, too, so it's not a one-to-one comparison anyway.

Collin is also signed for another two years.

And it still wouldn't be worth it, the Jazz would laugh while robbing us blind.

Beyond Klay being toast, he has come off as high maintenance the last couple of years.

It’s funny watching everyone so happy at the chance to get Klay and dump
DLo, when DLo is better/younger player.

Tobias Harris would be a better fit for this team or the woman beater (Bridges)

Wait for it....Wait for it.....The Warriors bamboozle us. They went from a position of weakness and turned it into strength.

Or Bron is spinning they tried to trade you for me this summer, they don’t respect you, come let me show you respect. Same thing with Raw Allen when Boston started and paid Bradley

Artest
Steve Blake
Trezz

Feels like for most teams the MLE is often forgettable or worse becomes a bad contract. The Donte DiVincenzo MLE signing (Warriors and Knicks) is more rare. Bulls got Caruso with the MLE which was another great one. The key to those signings were that they were young players.

Signing an aging player with the MLE is probably not going to work out often. Clippers are still paying PJ Tucker because of the Sixers horrible signing. If Klay gets the full 4 years then we may be in trouble.

Was Lonnie Walker a tax payers MLE? At least he won us a playoff game.

Position of strength was probably the wrong terminology. They were toast and now it looks like they may be able to get something for distressed assets (whether its CP3 or Klay). Just my worthless take, but I can easily see this happening.

klay scored 18 points a game and shot 38% from 3. For the MLE, I'll take it. he's only 34. He's not a lock down defender anymore..there's some fuel left in the tank.

His production likely drops from that next year. He's in a downward spiral.

Curious to know how this attempt at the full MLE will effect the Christie resigning. What will the signing limit be for him, particularly if we are targeting Klay for the MLE?
Might be a case to thanking Darvin Spam for reducing his value by not giving him an enough run.

His effective field goal percentage this season is 55.1%

His career effective field goal percentage is 55.0%

The year LBJ won the title, his effective field goal percentage was 55.0%

Do you guys even look up stats before you make these bold statements?

Klay is averaging 1.7 points below his career average

LBJ is averaging 1.4 points below his career average

LeBron is five years older than Klay.

Of course LBJ is playing better, but his defense also isn't what it used to be.

It's crazy how one player who is five years older you are happy to pay for three year max extension but the other player is "toast"

His scoring efficiency is literally the exact same as it always has been while playing under duress in a toxic team situation.

For the MLE we should be thankful if Klay wants to come.

Is Day’ron Sharpe what we’d call a ‘legit backup big’? If so, is DFS/Sharpe for Rui/Reddish something we’d consider? Assuming Klay happens

DLo - Dinwiddie
Klay - Reaves - Christie
DFS - Knecht
Bron - Vando - Wood
AD - Sharpe - Hayes

At least it gives us a POA defender for the starting lineup and a backup big

I believe Klay will extend with Warriors. After George opt-out they have to extend with Klay. Klay's camp using Lakers as bait. Before all free agency seasons we've seen this flm with numerous players. Hope I'm wrong.

Unless Lebron take a paycut that also include money for Max & we waive Cam Reddish, Max is out.

Look at the shooting splits.

The bridges have been burnt between Klay and the Warriors. I think there's a greater chance of DLo remaining a Laker than Klay remaining a Warrior.

That is fine as long as we didn't miss other free agents from waiting for his decision

I’m very much against using the full MLE if it means losing Max

That said, we can salary dump Vincent to make room for him and a vet min PG

Klay attempts 9 threes per game and most of those attempts are on the move off of pin downs with defenders frantically trying to stay attached. He would add a dimension to JJ's playbook that we don't have.

You cant just compare his percentages to other guys in the league who take fewer attempts and primarily shoot stationary threes.

Does LJ's haircut impact us as far as trades are concerned? I thought I read we could take in more salary than sending out. Does anyone know? I just do not see Klay signing an MLE and I think there are better options for us if we had to make a trade (not slighting Klay).

Capflation is real. These contracts are absurd.

OG got 5 yr / 212 million for averaging 15 and being one of the better defenders in the league.

Now compare that to Herb Jones, who got 4 yr / 54 million last year.

Herb IMO is the better player. He is more efficient and more available. OG hasn't been available and usually gets hurt at some point in the season.
