Seeing what teams got for Gobert and Bridges, we should trade both Lebron and AD for a haul of 1st round picks and start over.
Seems like Philly is the only team interested in Lebron and it makes more sense for them to just sign him outright. The window to get assets for Lebron has passed.
AD just signed an extension, so he can't be traded this year.
AD signed his extension last summer so he should be eligible to be traded
Gotcha. I tried doing a trade for him on the fanspo trade machine and it said he couldn't be traded. When is he eligible? After free agency?
He signed on August 6th. So like 6 weeks from now. They could agree to a trade before that and complete it on August 6th.
Obviously as of now that seems highly unlikely. We know AD was part of the coaching search. It would probably require Lebron to leave and Lakers to decide to go into rebuilding mode. Which wouldn't be ideal the year we owe an unprotected pick to the Pelicans. At the same time the longer you wait to trade AD the weaker the package you get back in return.

Would OKC have any interest in trading the stash of picks they could from the Paul George trade in exchange for AD? They were already the #1 seed and he could put them over the top. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
Why it is we can lowball Hurley, but can not lowball Lebron?
I will not draft Bronny and I will offer him a 1+1 50mil. That's it. Take it or leave it.
To the media, PR goes as Lebron being the highest 40+ paid player.
They didn’t lowball Hurley.
He would have been the 5th highest paid coach in the NBA.
Behind 3 head coaches that won’t titles.
1 who didn’t.
Not a lowball at all. Wish people would stop saying that.
It was have been colossal asinine to pay Hurley more than Spoelstra, Kerr and Popovich. Stupid.
Be real…
+ he was never coming. Had they offered more, he turns it down and the narrative shifts to how everyone hates the FO. Imho. No win situation going after him other than at least they tried which is good enough for me.
I don’t see it the same way, Lakers were trying to poach a settled coach, not a coach looking for a job. Salaries of other coaches are irrelevant. We did have to come over the top, no different than a company trying to get someone else’s CEO or lead tech guy. The offer if true simply wasn’t over the top. It was a great offer for someone looking for a job like Budenholzer but not a happily situated Hurley. If you think a person would be a lazy hire once he/she signed the contract then you don’t go after them in the first place but once you made up your mind that this is the coach we want, especially without any lux tax/punitive cap, the number simply was too low
Lakers made a serious offer, and Hurley likely knew the parameters before he visited. If Hurley wanted the job, his side would've countered - or said he's not visiting if the offer doesn't start at "X."
Hurley leaked the Lakers offer to jam up UConn. He knew his wife was not going for it.
I think he was very interested in the job and it came down to Hurley's wife is the boss and she said no. It would have needed to be an outrageous number to get him and that would have been foolish because the track record is not very good for college coaching turning into great NBA coaches.
Free agent F OG Anunoby intends to sign a five-year, $212.5 million contract to return to the New York Knicks, sources tell ESPN. Deal will include a player option and a trade kicker.

I don’t think it happens either, but for the sake of conversation, they could do what the Nets did and flip one of the picks and a swap or two they get for AD to NO for their ‘25 pick.

Hartenstein is long gone, and I'd have to think they move Randle with less salary coming back now, right? Or at least Robinson moved for nothing coming back, and maybe they just draft a center with one of their picks. Still, that's risky, as they know what Robinson can give them when healthy. Since Randle isn't the best fit for this roster anyway, I'm thinking he gets moved to a team with cap space.

With the Knicks’ max-level offer to re-sign OG Anunoby, it’s apparent there was concern about the Sixers looming as a potential threat once free agency opened.

Knicks looking good. Really going to give the Cs a run.

Hmm, they are still about $6MM under the 1st apron and still well under the 2nd apron, including OG's first year salary for '24-25. They can't really afford Hartenstein as it stands, but if they moved Randle with less salary coming back, I suppose it could work.

Brunson isn’t good enough to be the #1 guy on a championship team, and Mikal and OG are #3 guys, not #2 guys. Randle is an empty stats player. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

NY vs Bos is going to be a bloodbath come ECF. Knicks are really their kryptonite - at least on paper. Small ball Randle/OG/Bridges/Hart/Brunson vs Porzingis/Tatum/Brown/White/Jrue.
And Knicks still have 24/25 + future firsts. If they walk away with Shannon Jr & Holmes tonight.... good lord.
Dayum, that’s might be better than the Celtics _________________ “The main goal for the Lakers is to win a championship. All I care about, all we care about, is to raise another banner in the rafters.“

Knicks going for it and they have a young experienced core. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team !
Knicks are the best team in basketball right now and they are still not done tooling. When they traded for OG, they were playing the best basketball in the league before he got hurt. They are STACKED on both sides of the ball.
