Report: Russell Westbrook has been ‘defensive’ when singled out in Lakers film sessions According to the latest from ESPN,
the Lakers were worried about benching Russell Westbrook because they weren’t sure how he’d react, based on his response to previous criticism.
Russ was given the full star treatment in OKC by Brooks and later Donovan. He bristled at accountability in Houston and was sent packing by Harden. He once again got start treatment by Brooks in Washington and is now back on a team with real title aspirations, being asked to take accountability. So we hear things from him like Basketball isn't everything, he isn't concerned if he doesn't win a title in his career, and that he's doing everything that is asked of him.
It's always difficult to know what is going on in a person's mind. Maybe he cares so much about winning, about what people think, that he gets defensive and puts on the facade that he doesn't care. Or he's been spoiled and is too entitled to be told he needs to do better. Who knows.
There's a real chance he really wants to do this right and is just having difficulty getting there.
Less than two calendar years prior, Morey gave up Chris Paul, two top-4 protected 1st round picks, and two 1st Pick-Swaps. Kuzma, Pope, Trez and #28 feels like a premium. The Houston offer was a disaster. Their return was Wall and a 1st.

True. Imo Russ still had the reputation of not being the problem.
Basically that PG13 was the problem in OKC. Boy did that change after Russ went to Houston.
Russ did have a bounce back season in Washington, but it was for a 7-10 seed type team and it’s not going much better this season.
When are we starting Monk and Reaves in the backcourt? Clearly the best for winning. It’s not Westbrook’s fault, he’d be much more valuable on a team of shooters.

IDK. Harden couldn't wait to get out of Houston. Its a terrible organization who lucked into 2 rings thanks to MJ chilling. Wiz loved russ, but now he's playing with a ball dominant PF and a center who thus far has proven to be brittle. _________________ Kobe.

Russ had a solid game today. The turnovers, I don't really rock with, but it happens.
He had some embarrassing misses, but it really doesn’t matter because there are no good misses. Just a few More TOs than I would like. What’s changed so far is he finished more layups(I can’t believe I am even saying this), just layups
I find it weird that AD and LeBron do media questions together and Westbrook does his alone. Could be something or could be nothing. Just interesting to see.
It's still amazing to me how Lebron is damn near 40 and is just so much better than a guy like Westbrook still in his early 30's. Like how can you feel good about your game WB, you know your athleticism is fading - why not get in the lab like Lebron did and improve your range? Study tape to play off ball?
Really same with Davis. He and Westbrook both need to step the F up. Especially if we can't trade Russ, Lebron at near 40 should not be outshining you in your prime, he is great but not THAT great - get in the damn gym.

Simple, One plays for stats and other plays to be top 3 in goat conversation
One observation from last night: instead of closing out on his man who was shooting wide open 3, Westbrook decided to leave him alone and go for the rebound instead 😂
