I just pray that they use the shot clock and pound it inside every time down the floor.

My worst nightmare would be Fisher starting the game by jacking 3's along with Lamar.

As long as everyone stays home on their man, Lakers should win.

Bynum does well against Amare.

wouldn't we match up bynum on amare defensively?? wouldn't want drew wondering out at the 3 pt line with frye.

and whichever one of those clowns guards drew, we should pound em inside again and again.

i'll take dunks and layups over 3 pointers all day. just gotta stay comitted to punish them down low.

as for nash, i think shannon is our best bet. he can fight over picks and still recover to challenge nash jumpers and still trail him to the hoop with enough athleticism to block any runners, or at least challenge em. farmar and fish can not

Everyone staying home on their man does sound like a good idea--especially with how ridiculous the Suns have been at knocking down threes. But I can see Nash scoring layup after layup if we leave Fisher out on an island, not to mention we'll probably get a steady diet of pick and rolls. Richardson has been on fire so Kobe might want to reconsider some of his cheating on D tonight. It would nice to put Artest on him, but I think Richardson might be a little too quick.

*EDIT: ^Yeah, definitely a game we might want to use more Brown with the starting unit.

Nothing wrong with letting Nash go nuts scoring as long as they can take away his passing.

With guys that good, you can't take away everything, so it's either take away the assists or take away the scoring. Since the assists end up scrambling everyone defensively, that's the best thing to take away.

Odom should match up well with Frye, but he needs to stay home on him no matter what.

I think we are going to be in for a tough night.

Not having Pau will come back to bite us tonite. You can get by for a while, but eventually losing a guy like Pau will catch up to you/Lakers.

The Suns are running and playing out of this World,us not so much despite our nice record.

I worry about Nash having free reign over Fish and the court being wide open for him....

Bynum needs at least 15 shots, and needs to grab 12+ boards, plus be a presence inside on the defensive end.

We cannot allow the Suns to play within their tempo comfort zone.

I believe to win this is a game Kobe needs to get 35+ for us to win.But to keep up with the Suns he will also need to walk the tightrope and mix in the TRi team system while being assertive.

Stick to your men, dont roam. Slow the game down.

I get this feeling Kobe is going to go off on them tonite bigtime, just a warning...

I think the lakers will be better off making Nash a scorer. Bynum on Amare, and LO on Frye sounds the best. But can Bynum stay with Amare up and down the court all night?

Gasol's post play (especially his passing) will be missed tonight, but the Sun's only 7 footer is Robin Lopez (and he hasn't played yet this season). Frye's 6-11, Amare's 6-10. I'd like to see Andrew have a big night down low, especially with the rebounding. I don't think anyone on the Suns will be able contain Kobe in the post (apparently Dudley's a good role-player defender), and if we get quality possessions down low, and get back on D, should be a quality win. Heck, if Kwame & Luke almost got it done down low against the run & gun Suns at their best, then Bynum and Artest surely can

I think you're greatly underestimating the Suns. That was the run & gun Suns at their worst (at least before Shaq arrived). They were struggling for several games coming into that series, and Stoudemire was out for almost the entire year. The next year when the Suns were really at their best, and when Stoudemire was in the starting lineup, they blew the Lakers out four games to one.

I think this is by far the most important game at this point in the season. I'd hate to see Phoenix win and gain some confidence by beating the Lakers. If Phoenix surprises us and wins 60+ games, we could be looking at a Lakers team that finishes in second place. People have criticized Phoenix in the past for not being able to win in the playoffs, but despite all the criticisms they were always a terrific regular season team when healthy. I wouldn't be surprised if being the #1 seed comes down to whether the Lakers win the division.

since the suns and lakers have a history, i think the coaching staff wouldn't play into the suns hands by also playing uptempo.

just by looking at matchups...bynum has played amare very well in the past. the laker guards better go down low to bynum...get amare into foul trouble and let kobe just post away at hill...hill ain't guarding him one-on-one. the suns aren't going to be familar w/ronron and especially his passing...i would hope that he and lo keeps those assists a comin'...

on the d side, every laker better be running their butts off to get in defensive positioning...it's funny, nash isn't necessarily fast, but yet he still manages to get wherever he wants on the floor; get just about any shot/pass off he wants. i hope that fish can force him away enough so he's left to be a shooter, not a passer.

the lakers SHOULD win this game. again, the lakers do understand how the suns operate.

shots inside the paint really diminish running opportunities for them. just don't start jackin jumpers. if we play inside, they won't have nearly the chances to run they are used to. we can post up every position (pg only with brown) but every other position with ease

It should be a tough one. Nash is back to his old form.
33.2 MPG
17.6 PPG (54.3 FG%, 50.0 3P%, 92.9 FT%)
12.6 APG
2.7 RPG

Good Luck D-Fish.

Richardson and Amare are averaging about 20 a piece as well.

I'd be a lot more comfortable if Gasol was playing and Bynum wasn't recently injured.

O come on, he's just heavy boned...

It would be very good to win this one, as Kobe said on Lopez: 'it's gonna be a good one'. it's all about our defense, if we play defense we win, if not we lose, it's that simple.

I think the key to this game is Bynum. If he's showing signs of injury, then it's going to be a tough night. But if he isn't, and he can handle Amare, I think we'll be fine.

If Phoenix does have a great year and Nash keeps putting up numbers like that, I wonder if we'll see him win another MVP.
