I hate bring this up, but last time we played them Bynum did a great job on Bosh. Who's gonna keep him from having a career night? |

Bosh has been hanging around the perimeter more than usual in Jay Triano's scheme and his jumpshot has been off. Pau can handle him just fine. _________________

I totally see Kobe hanging a bill on them. A 20. Then he'll sit the entire second half because we're up by too much. All the starters get rest for tomorrow. _________________ Nerd rock in progress.

Terribly run? How so? I think their front office and management has done a good job getting talent on the squad. No idea why they are so awful this year - that falls on the players and coaches both underperforming.
Toronto is at a huge disadvantage because it's... well, Toronto. A lot of free agents do not want to live in Canada. They'll undoubtedly lose their franchise player in two years as well. |
It's not being in Toronto that put them in the situation they are. It's poor on the court results. As much as NBA players have whined and said they rather be in an American "home" city, when push came to shove, almost of them took the money. Antonio Davis? Remember him? He took the Raptors money over going to Orlando. Vince Carter? Signed a long extension. Charles Oakley went there as a free agent, spurning even the Lakers. Chris Bosh? Signed the extension and even last year was very happy being a Raptor. While Toronto is not comparitive to a top American city, its better than say - well I rather not say. Its not living in Toronto that has kept FA's away or alienated their own superstars. Its their poor management and coaching over the years.
Vince demanded a trade once he realized that the GM/management was always going to put on an inept team out there. They didn't go with the GM he wanted and had a very poor selection in (I even forgot his name now). Anyway, Carter for all his half ass play and whining, wanted to stay a Raptor until they excluded him from the GM search and hired the guy he didn't want. As much as I dislike Carter, he was 100% right. The GM they hired was from Minnesota's franchise, and an awful selection. He traded Carter to NJ, a division rival, for basically crap. He made 2 really poor selections in the draft, and was so bad that the owners decided to fire him within 2 years. Thats a very quick release in the NBA for a GM. GM's usually get atleast 5 years.
Chris Bosh, its more about what they've not done on the court. As late as last year he was talking about how he liked being a Raptor. However, Chris has quickly realized that in all his time there, there has been 1 good regular season (2 years ago) and 2 playoff appearances. That is for 7 years as a Raptor. Ofcourse, Bosh rather go to a situation where he can be paired with Lebron or another superstar. Ofcourse he rather trust another franchise's management. Sure he may prefer NY over Toronto, but he's actually from the South - Atlanta. If theres anyplace he rather go, my guess is its the Southern teams.
Really its not about Toronto, the city. While there are some negatives, and I'm not a fan of the place, their biggest drawback is poor management and coaching on the court.
Remember its not like Pau Gasol did anything different with Memphis. He demanded a trade when Jerry West was still running things. He didn't get it granted until a year later. You get yourself into a bad situation, these NBA stars just demand a trade, and most of them get it granted.
The Raptors have not drafted well. That is incorrect. They took Bargnani as the #1 pick over Alrdridge and Roy. They drafted that bust at Center in Arajuo. They drafted Villanueva and while he's a solid player, he played the same position as their franchise player, and as of today he is indirectly involved in the pieces that got Jermaine O'Neal (because he was moved for Ford, who was moved for O'Neal). Thats 3 lottery picks - with not even 1 starter to show for it. IIRC they also drafted Joey Graham in the mid-1st round. Contrast that to the Lakers, they've been in the lottery once - landed Bynum. In the mid-1st once, landed Crittenton who was a piece that they used to land Gasol. The Lakers have had less situations to use quality draft picks, but still wound up doing more with them.
The Raptors are a very poorly run franchise, particularly in their draft pick ups and trades. Thats why they keep losing superstars/FA's. Its more about that, and less about Toronto, the city. |

Toronto is a helluva place to live. Great restos and beautiful women, even the escorts are great compared to most American cities, and cheaper too.
But our ball team is crap this year. Utter crap. They've already turned it in on this season. Triano will be gone, they don't care anymore. Lakers should dominate but seem to play down to the level of their competition, we'll see what happens. |

The laws are somewhat confusing, it's illegal to solicit in public or maintain a bawdy house. So technically incalls are illegal, but I doubt you'd run into problems. There are tons of ads in the local weeklies and even a website dedicated to reviewing Toronto-based escorts.
The great thing is that Toronto is a very ethnically diverse place so that is reflected in the escort population as well. |

Anyway, I expect the Lakers to allow the Raptors to score 105+. No defense _________________ LAkers 4 Life- "I think the refs are still calling fouls on the Lakers even during the press conference." |

I know this is a team game but I'd really love to see Kobe go for a huge scoring night tonight on efficient scoring, not 10-45 or whatever. _________________ "We are the goodest." - Shaq ESPN interview |

kobe is going to be in magic-mode tonight. it wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if he had a trip-double or something close to it. _________________ "i was born down in the valley where the sun refused to shine, but i'm climbin' up to the highlands, goin' to make that mountain mine" ~ Lakers, 2011 |

you realize we have a game tomorrow night - much more important (as far as psyche goes) - than this one. why would you want to expend himself in this game when we face the celts tomorrow? _________________ "i was born down in the valley where the sun refused to shine, but i'm climbin' up to the highlands, goin' to make that mountain mine" ~ Lakers, 2011 |
