A better question is why Mr. Ham didn't double team Dame late in the game.

Exactly!

I thought it was a nice, bold move to hire a fresh new coach. But it doesn’t matter if the coach is just gonna repeat the same mistakes as Vogel and is too much of a (bleep) coward to bench Westbrook like he should.

For those wondering why Coach didn't play Matt yesterday.
...Oops, wrong Matt.

Why should he start though? Why are we shooting ourselves in the foot? If he was a rookie and you didn’t know his name would anyone even entertain starting him? Would he get any minutes?

Why should he play period? I have never heard of a 2 for 1 when your up one and it’s the end of the game. That’s something you do early in the game to risk screwing up in order for the chance to stack points. It’s not something you do when you’re up 1 and there is < 30s to go. It’s the dumbest (bleep) I’ve ever seen. If you look at the replay Bron faces his palms at the sky and so does AD while the other teams bench starts celebrating. Ham should fire himself for gross negligence.

I just think if he were a rookie named Rüss Westbrookavich the idea of starting him would be ludicrous and he’d be competing to be a rotation player. We are bending over backwards to accommodate a player that isn’t giving us anything in return and in fact is actively hurting us. It’s time to stop banging our head against the wall.

Sunk cost fallacy. We gave up too much so we are trying to recuperate some of our losses by digging deeper . It’s like a averaging down thinking he will have a better value eventually , Reality is Westbrook is who he is and he just does not fit and his ego is not helping us either. Time to cut our losses and move on or that toxic will spread like cancer.

It's three games in, I still want to hope for the best for Ham

If we still see this in a month or so, I'll be pissed

The defense has been better than what I think many people hoped for. Darvin has said defense is the priority in every interview since his hiring. Hopefully they just need to accumulate more time working on the offense to match the defense.

The only way to find out if this can work, is to try it. Ham is trying and he's figuring it out. Can't blame him for trying but we've been ready for the guy to go for a year now whereas Ham is 3 games in wondering what he's got. And if you don't play Russ, does that help or hurt your ability to trade him? Lots of factors here.

I really can't believe all the Ham hate already. Team is playing D, guys are getting open/wide open shots, and there seemed to be a positive aura around thee team just 2 weeks ago. It's not his fault he's been given this roster.

The roster is ass. Not Ham's fault professional NBA players cannot hit open shots. 16/83 on open or wide open 3's (19%)

He's a moron from day 1. Good coaches and good GM see things, especially obvious things before trying them out. It's not hard to just look at Brick's previous seasons with Vogel and MDA to come to conclusion that he's basically trash. Cannot teach an old dog new tricks. Yet Ham and Pelinka want to try the idiotic thing.

You have to play him otherwise his trade value goes from low to crater low.

He can’t control players hitting open shots, but he can control rotations. And him bringing Westbrook back in late 4th quarters when the Lakers are either up, or down by 1 or 2, Lakers lose. THAT is Ham’s fault.

So why is he being a total coward and not benching Westbrook now?

Playing him is decreasing his trade value. There is nothing Westbrook can do at this point in his career otherwise unless he embraced a 6th man role.
