It seems to be a complex offense (average possession time being 18 seconds)
How will this translate to the NBA, where most teams look to play uptempo |
That could be a concern. You can't win these days playing slowdown basketball, and the Lakers don't have the personnel to be effective playing that style.

I am saying don’t trust the NY Post. They always misquote people and get sued constantly. In other words, don’t use them as a source of any information ever. Not legit. Ever! |

College has a 35 second shot clock. How does 18 seconds stack up against the average NCAA play length? |

It affects the Buss kids’ bottom line, that is why $100 million is such a surprise. I’m not sure that Doc would ever do that. |
Dr Buss lived in a different era. He never had the current CBA, he never had a luxury tax with 2 aprons and a hard cap. Dr Buss famously said, fans don’t pay to see the coach, but how long ago was that? The small market owners outnumber the big market owners and they have changed the game. With the hard cap and the luxury tax aprons, and graduated tax payment schedule, today’s NBA places far more emphasis on coaching, drafting and player development than ever before. This is where big market teams exercise their advantage. That have money to pay better coaches more money. |

Im sure his dad if for his son taking the challenge. He is a lifetime coach. The NBA and the Lakers further the families coaching legacy.
Pitino is probably bitter for failing in the NBA _________________ Previously CamReddish |

Now, JJ is going to feel like a fallback girl even if he accepted the Lakers HC job. I hope he's cool with it though since he's such good friends with Lebron.
Still, it's never good to feel like ur the backup plan. _________________ Los Angeles Lakers 2025 NBA Champions!! Go JJ! |

It’s entirely plausible that his wife is unsure on the move and she’s flying out to LA to see if she can get fully on board with the change.
Might be the one situation where having Jeanie as owner is an advantage. She can buddy up to the wife and maybe even offer her Linda’s seat on the yacht. |

It would be hilarious if he declines. Like the really sad kind. Lakers have to give him whatever he wants at this point. They are going to look really foolish otherwise. |

I think they already got a reality check by the fact they went after Hurley and offered a lot of money and a partnership. If he declines, it will be a bigger reality check and they will have to wait until Lebron is gone.
If he declines, they should just hire an interim coach for a year or 2. Lol _________________ Previously CamReddish |

If you look @what Woj is saying, LA wants to establish a program. They want his development but also a good farm system for the future.
We don’t know the real deal being offered but the inkling is a damn near decade long contract, that to me signals they are in it for the long haul.
Regardless if bron stays or not I don’t think they are doing this move just to win now, they want to win comfortably with guys/assets they can develop rather than hoping for FA every single year to be available. |

If Dan Hurley is really THAT guy then he will accept this position. Its the highest ranking coaching position in the league. It's not for everyone. Kind of the way Kobe would treat guys who were scared of playing for the Lakers. you have to want the pressure and challenges that come with the job. So if he declines then it would have never worked out anyways for the Lakers. All in all this is a win win for us. Shows that the FO is thinking the right way _________________ He's my GOAT |

I'm not sure how I feel about this deal. On the one hand, I think back to when we had the chance to hire Ty Lue. He was a proven coach that had won a championship already, but they cheaped out on him and tried to control who he would have on his staff (at least that's the narrative that was out). Now they are reportedly offering a boat load of money and the keys to the franchise to someone who is no doubt a great college coach, but has no pro coaching experience. If he turns out to be a good to great coach that stabilizes the organization, then I'll be a happy camper. But if it doesn't work out, it'll be the proof positive that Jeannie doesn't really know how to run this organization properly. |
