Dreamshake?

I’ve never seen a poster argue, “they weren’t the favorites,” as much as that Texan.

You think Jeanie might finally spend more than $70M on a headcoach now?

Brad Stevens was signed for 6 years $22M. I don’t think overspending on a coach is what made the Celtics champions.

I think the most remarkable thing is that he was the head coach at Butler in the mighty Horizon league. Taking Butler to the Final Four twice was a huge accomplishment, but that was viewed as a stepping stone to a power conference school.

Stevens may be the exception that proves the rule but credit to Ainge for thinking about what a young team would need and finding the right coach that would help it grow.

Hey Laker fans,

That must have been hard to watch.

Still I remember many of you laughed and said Jaylen Brown was not worth the contract he got. Do you still believe this now considering he is Finals MVP?

He isn't worth that contract. He isn't even a top 15 NBA player

X2

This is the darkest day for the Lakers since 1986.

Back then we were trailing 16-9.

1988 16-11
2002 16-14
2008 17-14
2010 17-16
2020 17-17

We got a 8-1 edge from 1987-2020 due to many shrewd FO moves, Mychal Thompson, Shaq, Kobe, Rice, Grant, Gasol, Odom, ...

Do we think Pelinka will repeat those moves in the near future? I won't hold my breath...

He's finals MVP and a champion which many of the top players can't even say they are.

First of all, congrats and enjoy it because it will be the last one in a while. We may be laker fans but we ain't gonna be classless. Regarding Jaylen Brown - just look up his finals numbers. They had to give it to someone. This was clearly a team effort. Kudos to Brad Stevens for building a good team.

It’s gonna be a long while before we get back into title contention. That’s a post Lebron era goal at this point.

Just gotta pray they don’t add more titles to the trophy case in the mean time.

Warriors got 4 championships out of Steph and Klay but they play in the West. Now imagine Foston getting almost a free pass to the NBA Finals every year with their young core, yikes! I almost want to give them one more championship if it would mean just one more for this current core.

I'll concede 2 championships. Just don't win 3 or 4....or 5.

Thank you Boston!! Wasn’t trying to see Dallas win another one. Especially after the blatant tank job last year.

Thanks man. I'm hoping they can win at least one more. It was definitely a team effort and the better, more balanced team won the series as they should.

When I see the Celtics in the past few years, I see the new Warriors. They follow the Warriors dynasty's footsteps to build the team: small ball, 3-point shooting and defense. Having Poz's inside presence is just icing on the cake.

This is the year they harvest. God knows how many more they can win...

Yeah. Brad Stevens absolute masterclass. That's the obvious takeaway. Tatum and Brown is probably the most underwhelming Top-2 I can think of in a while (although, something should be said that they are great defensive players as that can be lost). It should be difficult to build a true contender given salary cap constraints. Derrick White is getting paid $17.5M/year. That kind of value is how you win rings.

Right. He was a 36 year old stud who overachieved at a small school who was jonesing to get an NBA job. It took much more creativity and faith for the Celtics to target him. Targeting the back to back NCAA champion who was already targeted by Kentucky is much less creativity. Celtics made a good choice. Brad Stevens turned the Celtics in to an NBA champion in only 11 short years after he was hired.

Brad Stevens gets like 50% of the credit for building this team and the other 50% goes to Danny Ainge who drafted Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum (Nets picks from the KG and Pierce trade) and made more moves to get other complimentary pieces. Don't forget about Ainge.

Cheers. And I'm gonna look forward to every single team gunning for the Celtics now. You're gonna get g-league cats playing like stars against Boston. It comes with the territory.

Ainge did great with the drafts and picks he obtained. Also hired Brad and wasn't he responsible for his move to the front office on his way out?

I sure did. I gave you the reason not to blame anyone (1. not as painful, 2. would have lost in the AD trade anyway). Your question doesn't warrant just a name or a "no one to blame" answer.

A reason or two behind it is just as good, if not better.

OK. You blamed Magic for not drafting Tatum. You blame no one for JB and BI. A simple I blame no one would have sufficed.

Well, are you dictating how I should answer a question? I like to answer with a reason or two, whether you like it or not.

Of course not. To me, your answer was a nonanswer. I asked a point blank question, I expected a point blank answer. No need to get testy.

Remember when people here thought Lonzo was God's gift to the Lakers...the team and organization we loved hasn't been the same for a long long time.

YUP!
Magic made a boo boo. But, who knew? Drafts are a carp shoot. Be honest, did you think Tatum was better than Lonzo? I didn't.

Yup. Nobody wanted Tatum. Most people wanted Lonzo or Fultz to slip a spot
Boston wanted Tatum. LOL

A more interesting what if would be: Had the Lakers snatched Tatum, who would Boston have picked?

Lonzo? not likely, he's mostly hype.
However, there are a few gems in the first round later: Donovan Mitchell, Bam, Fox, the Flying Finn...
If the Lakers drafted Tatum, we would've traded him.
