My guess is the younger brothers will not get the chance to run the team. Pretty sure Jim and John would sell today, no intel on Janie but no reason to think she values being an active owner gs a richer ex owner (and none of them get a dime to pass on to heirs if they die while the trust owns the team, their share reverts to the rest of the beneficiaries, so selling at some point is the only way to extract their full share). At some point it comes down to whether it is more important to Jeanie to be the top dog. If she tires of that, I doubt she’s going to pass the baton. _________________ “We must always take sides. Can we just get someone that is not tied to this family or Laker lore to run this team?
The Lakers are the perfect case study in nepotism.
If Jeanie is serious, hire Sam Presti |

Why do you assume that Presti would sign up to answer to the Rambi, Phil, Magic and whoever else is advising Jeanie? _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

He would only come to the Lakes w/total autonomy. Meaning he gets final say. |

What has Jesse Buss done? |
He is basically in charge of scouting. Because the Lakers have drafted well over the past decade, people generally have good feelings about him. That said, unless you are inside the Laker organization, it's virtually impossible to know what he actually does or what skills he possesses.
I mean, before Jeanie took over many people used to rave about her and her background without really knowing much about what she had actually done.
Would Jesse make a good managing partner? I have no idea. The Buss family trust is set up in a way that makes it difficult for the Busses to sell the team and makes it difficult to replace Jeanie.
It's anyone's guess if her family members are as frustrated as fans are. Several of them do not work for the lakers, so again it's anyone's gas if the day-to-day travails that exasperate fans matter all that much to them. The team is still profitable, and its value on paper continues to rise, so I suspect some of the family members may measure success differently than fans do.
Replacing Jeanie is probably more about the relationship people in the family have with each other than about her performance or the teams on court performance |
I dont remember anyone ever raving about Jeanie. Perhaps you are thinking about that b.s. HBO show. |
I definitely remember people raving about her and claiming she was the one who had actually earned her role and would hire the right people for the jobs. Especially when she was openly criticizing and undermining the Lakers when Jimmy was in charge. |

And Chaz was merely a low level scout who didn’t make the big calls. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

He and Joey need to stage a coup immediately. _________________ Naz Reid or Brooks Lopez are a must in the 2023 offseason! |

ANSWER: Keep Losing |
Or:
Have her win another Chip so she can leave gracefully.
I don’t see here bowing out of something as a failure since she’s made it her life’s ambition. Pretty much equates to her being a failure in life. _________________ Darvin |

3 or 4 is more realistic. Lakers fans think they should win every year. |

Think he is.
Most of us knew she would be awful. Jerry never wanted it to be her because he knew she was incapable. It was never her thing. Jim shot a shot at it first that’s when you know she was no good. |
