Coach has found the right combination. Getting back to defensive identity.

When Thomas Bryant comes back, I would love to see this lineup:

Lonnie Walker
Troy Brown Jr
Lebron James
Anthony Davis
Thomas Bryant

Russell Westbrook
Patrick Beverley or Kendrick Nunn
Austin Reaves
Matt Ryan
Gabriel

Much more balanced lineup too.

I like that
DS gonna bump somebody’s minutes, Nunn better shake off the rust quick
Looking at that depth chart, screams a Westbrook trade doesn’t it

Well yeah, but at least in the mean time, Westbrook is enhancing the bench while he’s here. Otherwise the bench would be total garbage.

At the very least, it does scream for either him or Nunn to be traded at the very least when Schroder gets back.

Guys are more comfortable on their roles, but with Schroder and Bryant back the lineup and minutes will change a little bit again

I can’t believe we’re still talking about trading a guy giving a damn near triple double off the bench lol. He made about 20 winning plays in 25 minutes last night 🤣.

Westbrook completely took over the game in the first half.
Beverly and reaves made winning plays even though they didn’t score much.
Walker is hooping his butt off
Troy brown fits all our wing needs
Matt Ryan 3 clutch 3’s in one game
2 wins in a row against playoff teams

Hard to justify a trade right now tbh

Lakers are very deep at guards. Beside Beverley and Reaves, there are WB, Walker, Schroder and Nunn. All are capable scorers

We have bunch of guards that can combined to put up the points, defense that WB is providing. Also he's the only non min, non AD/Bron asset we can trade right now and it's a $59m large so how we not gonna talk about it.

Thomas has unfortunately shown nothing to date that he would be an effective starter. And then you’ll have Lebron guarding a wing?
Would rather see them inserting Reaves in the starter role in place of Pat Bev. Ok with the combo of Gabriel/Bryant filling in those minutes as the big when AD is out.

Okay my general hope at some point:

2 of Bev/Westbrook/Schroder
Walker/Reaves
TBJ/?
Bron/Ryan
AD/1 of Bryant or ?

I'm hoping the ? will be trade targets, but that remains to be seen

If Ryan isn't a part of the rotation (too much of a liability on D), and the backup C ends up being better than Bryant (unfounded, happy to retract my statement on this at some point), then that's a really solid 9-man rotation for the playoffs, as long as the ?'s are really decent players

Until you realize we are paying 47m and nearly 1/3rd plus of our cap space for a 6th man. Can't be a playoff team in the NBA with that type of construct. I'm really pleased to see Russ excelling in this role, but you would get 2-3 rotation/starters out of a Russ trade, and we need more NBA caliber rotation players.

Never really been about Russ’s play, he did avg 18/8/8 last year. It’s about that $47mil which is too much even for almost a triple double off the bench.
The $47mil keeps the team from upgrading in other needs areas.

In order the team needs:
1- 3pt shooting
2- NBA quality Starting Center not named AD
3- Backup insurance for LeBron (LBJ is insurance for AD at PF)
4- NBA quality Starting SG
5- NBA quality Starting PG

Westbrook/FRP/2ndRP for Rozier/Hayward solve 4 of 5 needs
Then Bev/Nunn/FRP/2ndRP for Turner solves all problems.

I think we win a chip with:
Turner/Bryant
AD Gabriel
LBJ TBjr
Hayward/Walker
Rozier/Schroeder

But that really doesn’t matter, Russ’ contract is a sunk cost, it is what it is. There isn’t much that the FO can do to correct their mistake without compounding that mistake.

Some posters have started discussing re-upping Westbrook at $15-20+ mil/season

It's ok if we disagree...I believe it does matter, the two trades presented corrects the mistakes without compounding mistakes and puts the team in a position to withstand injuries and complete for a championship.

I can hold off on the Westbrook trade for Rozier and Hayward because of their contracts being multi-year lengths...but I want the Turner deal ASAP

Bev/Nunn/FRP for Turner

Turner Bryant
AD
LBJ TBjr
Walker Reeves
Schroder WB

Gabriel/Ryan/JTA limited rotation
Jones/Christie DNP-CDs

Giving up a first round pick when we might not be very good for a guy like Turner who might play 45 games is compounding the mistake.

PG.Reaves (Right now our most effective guy)
SG.Ryan (Net rating +2.7 56.7 eFG%)
SF.LeBron ( PF is taking a toll on him plus lack of shooting on starting 5)
PF.Gabriel (Net rating +5.1 56.3 eFG%)
C.Davis

I love what Walker and Brown bring for us but they are not effective guys to be playing off the ball roles. You need guys that will command respect because they will hurt you with their efficiency.

G.Nunn
G.Brick
SF.Walker
PF.Brown
C.Bryant

According to Kübler-Ross, the five stages of grief are:

denial
anger
bargaining
depression
acceptance

Looks like we're still in thee denial phase
