With an open roster spot, training camp should be interesting.
PG 6'3" 22 year old Scotty Pippen Jr. (TW)
PG 6'5" 25 year old Javante McCoy
SF 6'9" 23 year old Cole Swider (TW)
PF 6'8" 24 year old Fabian White Jr.
C 7'1" 24 year old Jay Huff
One of the two-way contracts could be converted to a minimum contract like with Austin Reaves. Cole Swider has that opportunity if he continues his summer league shooting. We can then carry another exhibit 10 player on a two-way contract. Or maybe one of the exhibit 10 players wins a minimum contract.

I don’t think they will be as bad as last season just based on a more capable and committed group to playing an NBA basketball game.
Still a clunky roster with flaws, but at least we know they will be competing which is more than what we could say for last season’s roster, half of them are justifiably still not signed.

Sheed out, BigBen in as asst coach? Would love to see him in AD’s ass on how to play big in the frontcourt. Probably “teaching” PatB how to play big on the wings tho haha

Darvin Ham said the lineups have been fluid in practice. No established starting group yet.
Darvin Ham said the Lakers will largely play a pick and roll scheme he calls “Center field,” with a dropped big trying to force opponents into tough, contested twos. But they’ll also have switch packages to take advantage of guys like Anthony Davis being able to defend guards.

Lakers Coach Darvin Ham says he hasn’t played Westbrook and Pat Beverley together in the same backcourt…yet
One of Darvin Ham’s observations through two days of training camp: “LeBron is not from this planet, that’s for damn sure.” Especially liking how LeBron’s taking defensive rebounds and turning them into opportunities at the other end.

Darvin Ham said the most used starting lineup in practices has been Damian Jones, Anthony Davis, LeBron James, Kendrick Nunn and Russell Westbrook. But he clarifies he hasn’t decided on a five-man group yet.

Austin Reaves said the Lakers’ new defensive scheme features less switching and more individual responsibility for defenders. He added that with the team’s size and rim protection in the frontcourt, the perimeter defenders can afford to be more aggressive.

Ham noted how well Nunn has played offensively, scoring at all three levels, and added that defensively, he’s like a water bug out there, and can “Squeeze through pick and rolls, avoid screens, contest.”
