Trump driven fascism is contagious, and not just the US's problem . . .Giorgia Meloni: Italy's far right set to win election - exit polls

Far-right leader Giorgia Meloni has claimed victory in Italy's election, and is on course to become the country's first female prime minister.

Ms Meloni is widely expected to form Italy's most right-wing government since World War Two.

That will alarm much of Europe as Italy is the EU's third-biggest economy.

However, speaking after the vote, Ms Meloni said her Brothers of Italy party would "govern for everyone" and would not betray people's trust.

"Italians have sent a clear message in favour of a right-wing government led by Brothers of Italy," she told reporters in Rome.

(Trump's secret grand jury litigation to stop aides from incriminating him & why it won't work)

Quote:
CNN broke the story about, "Trump's secret court fight to stop grand jury from getting information from his inner circle."

This video covers the 1,2,3 of what's going on behind closed doors:

1. Why is this litigation secret?

2. How will it be resolved by DC Federal Court Chief Judge Beryl Howell?

3. What happens when Judge Howell rules against Trump (which is extremely likely given the applicable Supreme Court precedent of United States v. Nixon)?

(Pound hits record low against US dollar - BBC News)

Quote:
The pound has fallen to a record low against the US dollar as markets react to the UK's biggest tax cuts in 50 years.

In early Asia trade, sterling fell close to $1.03 before regaining some ground to stand at about $1.07 on Monday morning, UK time.

While worries about the UK economy have hit the pound, its value has also been under pressure due to the strength of the dollar.

Americans better wake the f up in November because it can happen here too. Ukrainians and Iranian women are fighting harder for freedom than uninformed Americans who don't bother to vote or who still think both sides are the same and flip a coin.

Here's some context for what happened in Italy. It seems this mess has a lot in common with broken American political system where the minority ends up ruling:

Let me explain something about the Italian elections for all the non Italians who just read MSM.
1) the R coalition got @ 42% of the vote of 64% Italians who voted (the lowest number ever).
2) 36% of Italians did NOT vote. Many lost hope during the Berlusconi years /1
when there was no REAL opposition and in the end so-called progressives colluded with B in many ways. The system is very corrupt. Many young people did not vote because they "did not like any of the options." They do not get that the least worst actually still exists. /2

3) Italian students and workers who could not travel to their hometown of residence were NOT allowed to vote.
Big failure of the so-called center left (weak and not caring about the issues of citizens) created a situation where there was NO feasible coalition of all /3

the Italians who did NOT vote for the R coalition. They are MORE than @ 42% but they did not band together.
4) So because of terrible elections laws the R coalition that gets @ 42% takes 2/3 of the entire Parliament. That 42% represents ONLY @ 26% of Italians. /4

5) Nothing new really. Berlusconi never had more than
25% and stayed in power 20 abominable years. And he is still there, after trials and convictions, never having spent a day in jail. /5

6) So when you read the headlines know that the Italian situation is much more complex than what those headlines say - and that years of corruption and complacency led to this. So VOTE, everyone here VOTE if you don't want a minority or relative majority decide your life./6 end

The attempted dismantling of democracy in America seems to have started disruptions of governments worldwide.

(Iran to ‘deal decisively’ with mounting protests – BBC News - BBC News)

Quote:
Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi has vowed to take action against protesters after more than a week of anti-government demonstrations.

Officials say over 30 people have been killed since protests broke out over the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody.

Raisi pledged to "deal decisively" with the protests, which have now spread to most of Iran's 31 provinces.

Clashes continue in several cities.

Former staffer to Marco Rubio and John Thune wrote on twitter that if you keep calling people fascists, they might become fascists. So don't call them fascists.

And they think that's a good argument.

Other than the gaslighting, double-standard and hypocrisy, maybe they can stop doing fascist (bleep) like this:

Quote:

On Friday afternoon, all University of Idaho employees were informed that any discussion about abortion or birth control that was not completely neutral could result in immediate dismissal, a permanent ban from working for the State of Idaho, a felony charge and fines.

Back in the day, we used to export liberal democracy and liberty. Now we're exporting fascism and white Christian nationalism.

Other countries in Europe, as well as Canada and Australia, have surpassed us in terms of liberal democracy. They still have fully-functioning elections, as well as guaranteed health care for everyone and a strong social safety net for poor people.

It's time for us to beat those other countries to the punch and have the BEST single-payer health care system, social safety net, labor unions and environmental protections laws in the world.

If there's a such thing as "American exceptionalism," that would be it.

That’s right out of the Screaming A Smith playbook of how to avoid being being hit by your husband or boyfriend: don’t ‘incite” . . . Otherwise known as gaslighting 101.

Jail time is a deterrent. I hope more examples are set.

A lot of these people seem like martyrs. A short prison sentence probably won't do much to teach them a lesson. If anything, it will give them "street cred" as someone who took one for their team.

Gotta give these people longer prison stints that fit the crimes they committed.

Yep. The vast majority of these guys have been given sentences where they will be out before the next presidential election cycle gets started. Even guys like this are getting off light. 7 years for insurrection when he will get out two years from now due to time served and good behavior is no deterrent.

These sentences are just giving them bragging rights and will serve as encouragement for others to do the same thing if 2024 doesn’t go their way. Especially since the GOP still clings to the stolen election lie.

But don't call them fascists...

Washington Post: U. of Idaho may stop providing birth control under new abortion law. Employees could be charged with a felony and fired if they appear to promote abortion, according to new guidance

Quote:
The University of Idaho’s general counsel issued new guidance on Friday about the state’s near-total abortion ban, alerting faculty and staff that the school should no longer offer birth control for students, a rare move for a state university.

University employees were also advised not to speak in support of abortion at work. If an employee appears to promote abortion, counsel in favor of abortion, or refer a student for an abortion procedure, they could face a felony conviction and be permanently barred from all future state employment, according to an email obtained by The Washington Post.

Idaho’s trigger ban took effect on Aug. 25, approximately two months after the Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade. That law, which was passed by state lawmakers in 2020, bans abortions at any time after conception, except in instances where the pregnant person’s life is at risk or in cases of rape or incest so long as the crime was reported to law enforcement.

Because a great way to prevent abortions IS TO BAN BIRTH CONTROL . . . !!!

Yes . . . I'm well aware of that. I'm just highlighting one of the many hypocrisies with their methodology.

Pretty crazy seeing the flooding from Hurricane Ian.

And 1/2 the country who vote R are happy to throw up their hands at climate change. Bring it up to them. And they minimize the issue.

SNL should do a sketch about it.

Standing outside house that burnt down due to climate change
Republican Voter: "Well there's no point in trying to slow down climate change unless China and everybody else cuts back more."

Standing in chest deep flooding in Florida home

Could Democrats use the fact that Democrat run states are the ones who pay for Repulbican states to even survive - to get Republican voters to reflect upon themselves and the people they vote for?

Something along the lines of "Proof we care more about you than the people you vote for: Our tax dollars keep your states functioning even if you hate us - We are All Americans!"

Citizens need to be MORE AFRAID.. TERRIFIED of MAGAs or ANY Republican gaining power at this point

Want to own your Vagina and Reproductive system? Vote Democrat.

Want Government to own YOU AND YOUR DAUGHTERS Vagina and Reproductive system? Vote Republican

Putin has forced so much creepiness into our political system.. scary like watching pit bulls wag their tails while they maul and take bites out of a helpless citizen.
