I’m saying Westbrook will start the season a Laker.

IMO Yes, things will start ramping up this week, all the talk of the Lakers preparing and acting like Westbrook will be apart of the team when training camp opens is a big smokescreen.

No

The lakers want a westbrook trade where:

-They don't take on long-term salary due to the 2023 cap space/repeater tax plan
-They don't take on additional salary this year due to lux tax concerns.
-They don't give up a FRP or 2 unless it makes them a contender

A westbrook trade that improves the lakers while fulfilling such criteria is almost impossible unless its a star. The lakers would gladly ditch their plans if a star/budding star becomes available on the market, but their 2 frp's won't be enough as shown by recent trades.

This makes it likely westbrook remains with the lakers this year, especially given their recent comments. I wouldn't blame the lakers if they didn't want to spend their remaining assets on a trade that could still land them in the same spot as last season.

Brick will start the season at home. If he wanted to play ball elsewhere this year, then he would need to agree to a buyout.

He's more likely to begin the season as a Laker. I don't think he will end it as a Laker.

But with Dennis/Bev/Nunn, the Lakers have multiple options at PG and are not reliant on Russ like they were last year. Play no defense? Shooting bad shots? Being an anti-gravity player? We have other options to put in now.

I can continue hoping he gets traded. But it is doubtful.

Now it is more about how Ham uses him, his interaction with his teammates and the drama he creates. Can he fall in line and be a useful player? Or be a disruptive entitled annoyance?

Going to be an interesting camp if he remains a Laker.

I have no interest at all in this team if WB is still here by opening day. Yes last season was that bad.

With that said they are running out of time here. I say it's 50/50 whether or not they get anything done this coming week. They would need to be a bit more flexible in terms of adding future salary, etc to get it done though.

Think/Hope there will be a deal by the end of camp before the season begins.

Feels like wishful thinking at this point.
