Thank you Bron. This is what you should be saying all the time to give yourself a better team.

That’s big of you bro. I would wait tho, in thanking him.

I know it’s going to be Hard in giving up all that max money, but if Bron really wants to come thru for us in the klutch, I’m hoping he’s more about being about it than just talking about it cause #Talki$cheap

Quote:
Harden’s longtime business manager and NBPA-certified agent Lorenzo McCloud, who has a long-standing relationship with Daryl Morey and 76ers ownership, handled the negotiations for the deal. McCloud also helped orchestrate Harden’s move from Houston to Brooklyn in 2021 and then from Brooklyn to Philadelphia in 2022. The 32-year-old former college basketball player is originally from South Central, Los Angeles. He has experience working under former agent and current Lakers executive Rob Pelinka, who represented Harden and many other high-profile players.

The final deal is a two-year, $68.64 million deal with a player option for the second season, USA TODAY Sports Media Group’s For The Win has since confirmed. Harden will earn $33 million next season, and if he opts into his second season, he will earn an 8 percent raise to $35.64 million. – via Bryan Kalbrosky @ For The Win

I have to take Lebron’s side on this, he has earned the money he should be paid. As Kobe said, building a team is on the FO, not the players.

Bron took a paycut so that the HEAT could sign Mike Miller . . . then the HEAT amnesteyed Miller to save on luxury taxes and Bron was like "F Miami" and peaced out after his contract expired.

Exactly, that is why I will have the player’s back, get paid what you deserve.

Marc Stein reported on Friday that the only reason LeBron James would leave the Lakers would be to play with his son Bronny.

Bronny isn’t currently a top ranked prospect, but there’s a chance he still gets drafted off of his last name. Teams could also draft him in order to get LeBron on their team. Would a contender trade up to get the James duo? How much would they give up? We’ll have to see what happens.

Bronny isn't even eligible to be drafted for 2 years. At this point he is a 6'-3" wing player who is about to turn 18. Honestly don't see teams doing backflips to try and secure Bronny so they can have 40 year old Lebron on their roster.

I honestly hope the Lakers avoid the entire situation. They can sign Lebron to a one year extension this month and let him walk in '24 if he wants to play with Bronny.

Hopefully, Bronny gets a late growth spurt to put him at at least 6'7" cuz 6'3" is below midget in the NBA. 6'7" wing is so ideal in today's NBA. The Lakers are actually looking for such players.

Curious on your definition of “deserve”.

James is in line for an extension in the $45m range. For arguments sake, let’s think the Lakers pass and James becomes a free agent.

Which team is paying him that?

Or if he chooses to sign for less elsewhere, why couldn’t he choose to sign for less with the Lakers?

Deserve is a tricky concept when you balance the impact on the court or marketing opportunities.

I think it makes some sense for LBJ to not sign the extension now.

1. puts pressure on the Lakers to trade Russ. It's a non-starter if he is on the team, especially starting.

2. if the Lakers trade THT's deal off, then LBJ may be in a position to do what Harden did and take a lesser deal if that means that the Lakers can sign another max level FA, or some meaningful level players. If he signed an extension now at the max, it would preclude that flexibility.

Or it puts pressure on the lakers to add another 1st in any trade

6'3 is the average size of point guards in the NBA what are you talking about?

Bryce is the player.

Bryce doesn't look that fluid yet, but does have a similar vibe to Lebron in the way he moves.

Right now, Bronny is a combo guard. Not sure what his position in the NBA will be, if he makes the NBA.

Trae, Dame, Spida all 6'1" - 6'2" ish. Trae is 6'1" with shoes and 165 lbs. lol

Bronny will be like 6'3", 180-190# combo guard in the mold of CJ McCollum but with more athleticism. Let's not forget CJ avg 5ppg his rookie year and 6ppg in his sophmore year.

Right now, hardly anyone cares about Bronny as a basketball player.

He's either seen as a sideshow or a mechanism to get Lebron.

Give him a different dad, he wouldn't be on anyone's radar as a potential NBA player.

The NBA is pretty good about legacy, at most, a summer league invite like Shareef but no unearned rookie contract

Normally, that’s true. Being the son of an NBA player won’t get you a roster spot.

The wild card here is whether a team could get Lebron by signing Bronny.

Obviously, that’s a long way off. But there’s never been a situation like this.

But really that's the only reason anyone cares about Bronny now. If Lebron retired, no one would give Bronny a second thought right now, because he's not even an NBA prospect, let alone anything special.

Even at that advanced age his offense will still be powerful.. his defense will suffer more than his offense imo
Very interesting to think about a man out there still a performing as a superstar at age 37-38 and then 39-40?

He really took care of himself since day one.

Oh, I think Bronny will get drafted, 2nd rd if he's not good but he will, reason as you mentioned (Bron would prob even take a steep discount at that point). I was just saying in general that the NBA has been good

Quote:
Talking to The Athletic in February, the four-time NBA champ said he doesn't plan to retire until he can play in the league with Bronny. "My last year will be played with my son," LeBron told The Athletic. "Wherever Bronny is at, that's where I'll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It's not about the money at that point."

In an April episode of LeBron's YouTube show Uninterrupted's The Shop, LeBron repeated his desire to play with his eldest son. "[Bronny's] No. 1 on my list. I want to play with [him] for sure …" he said.

Curious if there are any quotes of Bronny stating his dream of joining the NBA include having Daddy on the team?

Stop and really picture this for a moment. James will be at the end of his career and all the sideshow aspects will be in full effect. Anyone old enough to remember Jordan in Washington or Magic returning for 30 games as a PF?

Bronny just trying to prove himself as a borderline player, but getting star treatment. How fun will it be to be compared to Lebron every single night? How fun when Dad does the rookie hazing?

How awkward will it be for any coaching staff making decisions? How resentful the teammates that lose mpg and are being asked to “ hold the purse or take the picture”.

James and Bronny can form a Drew League team to get it out of his system. Or sign a one day for the record books. But play an entire year together?

Let the young man live his life.

people might not like it and will find great reasons for this not to happen but a son fulfilling his dad's career wish is good in my book. Bronnie should and prob does wanna do it whether its for him or even just for Bron

Hopefully, Bronny gets a late growth spurt to put him at at least 6'7" cuz 6'3" is below midget in the NBA. 6'7" wing is so ideal in today's NBA. The Lakers are actually looking for such players.

6'3 is the average size of point guards in the NBA what are you talking about?

Trae, Dame, Spida all 6'1" - 6'2" ish. Trae is 6'1" with shoes and 165 lbs. lol

Bronny will be like 6'3", 180-190# combo guard in the mold of CJ McCollum but with more athleticism. Let's not forget CJ avg 5ppg his rookie year and 6ppg in his sophmore year.

To be a combo guard in today's NBA you really need guard skills such as playmaking and ballhandling. Bronny is robotic with the ball in his hands and lacks the fluidity you see in most guards. He plays much more like an athletic 6'-3" wing player.

According to Dave McMenamin, “nothing is imminent” in regards to a LeBron extension, and his camp will likely wait to see what the roster looks like come training camp before making anything official.

Makes sense for him to wait till next summer to sign a 1+1, essentially giving him full leverage via opt out in year 2 as well as a NTC built in so that he can’t be traded without his consent.

Same. He’s not leaving imo.

1+1.

He doesn’t want to leave and Jeanie is all about the taking care of the franchise stars so that the next wave joins the Lakers.
