Lakers fans are probably the largest fan base.
So it's plausible that they would account for the most toxic fans.

honestly, I don't even know what "they" mean by being toxic.

I thought being a fanatic automatically makes one "toxic" to some degree.

Nah, I work with kids so we try to be as precise as possible with word meaning and usage. They're not the same to any degree. Fan, or fanatic, is one who exhibits excessive zeal for their team, cause, religion, etc., Toxic, on the other hand, is basically someone or something who adds negativity to your life. Like toxic chemicals, they can burn and/or irritate the hell out of you.

No, we as Laker fans are not the most "toxic" fans in the league. We might be the most spoiled because of our success, but we're not adding negativity to anyone's life by being so.

OP, I'd try a different word than toxic. No one can measure that.

We are biased.

I'm sure our zeal for the team brings what some people may label as negative to their lives.

A great example is our fanbase' Kyrie Irving hypocrisy.

They need to get a life then if our zeal for the Lakers brings their life negativity. I'd like to think that I, and most people, don't give an F about a fan's zeal for their team. We should expect it.

Lakers fans are probably the most delusional but not necessarily the most "toxic," by a longshot.

Last year, Lakers fans were named the most toxic because there were more profane words per 100 subscribers on Lakers subreddit than on any other NBA team's subreddit. I wouldn't call that a meaningful measure of toxicity but at least it has an objective basis and clear criteria.

Generally, fans of teams in big cities and/or teams which have a lot of success are considered the most obnoxious, which is sometimes what people mean by toxic. So Lakers fans will commonly come up high on lists or polls like this.

Obviously, I would expect the numbers to be much lower on a poll on a Lakers fans site than a poll of the general public.

Without looking at the poll, I'd guess, oh, 25-33% will vote yes, because a lot of LGers have a chip on their shoulder (and some people come to this site because they dislike the Lakers). If this were a Celtics site, we'd probably hit 80% plus.

If I was forced to choose, I would say maybe most entitled or most bandwagon, but definitely not most toxic.

There's Boston
There's Utah
There's Denver

But I agree with TD. In reality we dah best!

I understand the Boston and Utah inclusion on your list.

But why Denver?

Regardless of the sport, Philly has the most toxic fans in general.

They booed Santa Claus and threw batteries at an injured Michael Irvin, just to name a couple of incidents.

That city has some kind of deep-seated cynicism toward anything outside its bubble.

There are certainly a lot of toxic Lakers fans. We see plenty of them on these forums. Entitled. Impatient. Annoying.

I'm not sure if it is a higher percentage than other fan bases though. There are just a lot of Lakers fans.
