Build through free agency

2022 Free Agents

28 year old 6'11" C Jusuf Nurkic (#12 rank C) * Klutch discount

29 year old 6'3" G Dennis Schroder (#37 rank PG) ** Minimum contract
28 year old 6'4" G Gary Harris (#49 rank SG) ** Minimum contract
23 year old 6'6" G Jarrett Culver (#110 rank SG) ** Minimum contract
25 year old 6'8" G/F Josh Jackson (#71 rank SF) ** Minimum contract
23 year old 6'6" F Troy Brown Jr (#73 rank SF) ** Minimum contract
25 year old 6'5" F Derrick Jones Jr (#69 rank PF) ** Minimum contract
29 year old 7'0" F/C Frank Kaminsky (#25 rank PF) ** Minimum contract
24 year old 7'0" C Isaiah Hartenstein (#34 rank C) ** Minimum contract
29 year old 6'10" C Andre Drummond (#25 rank C) ** Minimum contract

Something like this

6'3" G Russell Westbrook, 6'3" G Dennis Schroder, 6'2" G Kendrick Nunn
6'4" G/F Talen Horton Tucker, 6'4" G Gary Harris, 6'5" G/F Austin Reaves
6'9" F Lebron James, 6'8" G/F Josh Jackson, 6'6" F Stanley Johnson
6'10" F/C Anthony Davis, 7'0" F/C Frank Kaminsky, 6'9" F/C Wenyen Gabrial
6'11" C Jusuf Nurkic, 6'10" C Andre Drummond, 7'0" C Isaiah Hartenstein

The key will be Talen's development

They have cap space for free agents and draft picks for depth next summer

You are woefully undervaluing a bunch of players who will get more than the min. Also bye Russ. Do whatever we can to unload that dude off our Lakers.

Just like at the trade deadline, nobody is even talking to the Lakers unless the frp are in discussion. I feel like teams are trying to grab whatever valuable left from the Lakers aka the frp. Vulgers!! As expected, Lakers' only way of improving the roster from last season is thru the undrafted and unwanted market and cycling in new old and slow vet min players.

Would be nice if Jeanie could elaborate on how she thinks the Lakers could still contend with Lebron and AD. This ain't 2-on-2 basketball.

I really hope Pelinka can circle back to a possible Hayward deal this summer.

LAL
Hayward
Plumlee (I'd prefer Oubre, but Plumlee as a backup would be fine)

CHA
Westbrook
2027 1st (at minimum top-4 protection)

It's far from a quick fix, but getting two functional rotation players for a dysfunctional Westbrook including a good NBA starting wing would be a start at rebalancing the roster.

No way I would give up a pick.

I would focus on the Knicks if we really want to avoid trading picks.

Fournier
Rose
Burks or Noel

That's $40M+ right there.

What is that trade really doing for you? IMO none of those guys are on the floor in the playoffs except maybe Rose and Noel if they don't get hurt. I'd rather just have Westbrook off the books after next year.

And Jeanie is in repeater tax territory. I don’t see the Knicks motivation without picks.

Ayton as a #2 option can put up 23/11, Booker and CP3 didn’t allow him to function in the post a lot cause they were getting the bulk of the shots and that’s not including Bridges, I would be interested to see how he would do if he didn’t get ignored.

And you don’t think that Lebron and AD will be getting the bulk of the shots?

The only way I see that happening is if Lavine wants to leave and Zo is still hurt. Zo heals very slow and isn’t available readily throughout his career. Russ while he can be terrible is available. His one saving grace and characteristic is he is readily available to play nightly and for high minutes.

On the off chance that LaVine ends up a Laker, I'd have to believe that you're correct in that the Bulls would have no interest in Westbrook, so he'd have to end up on a 3rd team, presumably. That said, I will note that most articles I could find when I googled "Billy Donovan relationship with Russell Westbrook" painted a good working relationship between the two. Still, unless they see Lonzo as damaged goods already, it seems like a clunky fit.

Come on VLF, you already know the rumored deal is LeBron going out for Ayton and other assets.

Randle has sadly become about as productive as Westbrook. I’d rather be done with this kind of player in one year not 4.

Where does Julius play? Small ball center?

We saw Julius Randle with Anthony Davis in New Orleans. Anthony played better with Nikola Mirotic, who is playing overseas. Julius is redundant with Lebron, which is why he was released. Julius is a bad fit with Lebron and Anthony. Why would we want him?

Nikola Mirotic

Randle and AD in their season together:

AD: 25.9 points (51.7% fg, 33.1% 3p), 12.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.6 steals, 2.4 blocks in 33 minutes
Julius: 21.4 points (52.4% fg, 34.4% 3p), 8.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.6 blocks in 30.6 minutes

They weren't a bad fit at all. ADs shot blocking masks Randle's lack of it. And they can both switch off onto smaller players and stand a chance defensively.

Why does everyone think that since a player is signed to Klutch, they are gonna be a Laker; like Zach Lavine?

Because the biggest Klutch client represents the Lakers and that’s LeBron, fans think players are always looking to make that move to LA.

Lakers
In: Ben Simmons, Lonzo Ball
Out: Russell Westbrook, 1st round pick, 2nd round pick (Bulls' pick)
Why: Why not?

Nets
In: Zach Lavine (S&T, hard capped)
Out: Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, 2nd round pick
Why: Ben's mental state is a mystery.

Bulls
In: Malcom Brogdon, Buddy Hield, 2nd round pick (Lakers)
Out: Zach Lavine, Lonzo Ball
Why: Zach says he's leaving for nothing. Lonzo's knee is a mystery.

Pacers
In: Russell Westbrook, 1st round pick (Lakers), 2nd round pick (Nets)
Out: Malcom Brogdon, Buddy Hield
Why: Go young and get out of long term deals.

I know, I know. it's just for fun....

Ben Simmons
Lonzo Ball (too bad for his knee. Poor kid)
Lebron James
Anthony Davis

Kyrie Irving
Zach Lavine
Kevin Durant
Nice 3 man group on offense, but being hard capped, they might be thin on depth.

Probably cuz KCP and the wacky deal we gave him.
And Lebron.
And then AD.
And THT.
And Nunn.

But mostly how we got AD.

It's more about the nature of this forum -- lots of people here fantacize about something-for-nothing deals that benefit the Lakers.

Because the Lakers have a connection with Klutch, people here use that connection to fantacize that we will land Klutch clients in lopsided trades or Klutch clients will sign here for dramatic discounts.

In reality, our experience with Klutch players has largely been the opposite -- we've paid top dollar for trades and free agent signings of Klutch clients. But reality is not what this forum is about. It's about wish fullfillment.

I hope LaVar speaks it into existence and we somehow sign and trade Westbrook for LaVine Bring Lonzo back too please

So the Bulls are that stupid to take on Brogdons dead body to get Hield?

They rather let Zach walk for nothing

Not this past season, but the season before like half our roster was repped by Klutch.

KCP
Trezz
THT
Lebron
AD
