DNIPRO, Ukraine — Before the war, Rabbi Meyr Stambler never broke Shabbat and never lied to his wife, with whom he had lived for 28 years. Now he has done both.
If there is an emergency, like evacuations, he will answer his phone on Saturdays. In the early days of the Russian invasion, he sent his wife Sarah, his ten children, and his three grandkids to Israel, promising he would join them in a few days. But he lied. He never meant to leave Ukraine.

Supposedly booby traps in many places.. on a side note.. why do they call it a booby trap..
Booby was a clumsy bird easy to catch. The word booby also means boob or fool and has for a long time.
Extra fun fact: the word sharpshooter comes from the Civil War. Derived from the Sharps rifle or carbine, an accurate weapon. The weapon LeBoeuf carried and extolled in True Grit. They were in short supply during the Civil War and thus were often given to the most talented shooters who then acted as skirmishers with some degree of autonomy to go out ahead and pluck off Reb leaders, which is something akin to a sniper today. The designer's name was Christian Sharps. The term was Sharps shooters and got transmogrified into sharpshooter over time. Otherwise the word "sharp" wouldn't be used in shooting contexts today.
Thank you Sir.. I like the last one and never would've thought it was anything other than quality or sharp as a knife shooter
I thought booby trap might be like when get caught catching some side boob action and miss what happens in front of you BAM
It's like how the word nickel connotes a 5 cent coin to us today, but the first US coin with nickel in them was the 3 Cent Nickel piece. Five cent coins were called half dimes and were silver. To make it more confusing, the US also put out a 3 Cent Silver piece with a period of years where two 3 cent piece types were circulating. Theoretically they were made to make it easier to buy 3 cent stamps. So the first thing we think of as a nickel was really a 3 cent nickel. First 5 cent nickel (Shield nickel) "only" debuted in 1866. Are you completely tripped out by my useless fun facts?

Well, not really. Ukraine got a lot of weapons and now Finland is stupid enough to want to be part of Nato. Sweden unfortunately as well.
They are dealing with a "leader" who looks terminally ill and probably doesn't care if he commits a couple more atrocities. They are thinking its better to have the full backing of NATO than going at it alone.
Especially since the rest of the Russian government is all in as well . . . at least thus far.
Baffles me why anyone would call such a move "stupid" and "unfortunate" . . .
