I blame Pelinka and LeKlutch equally. Don't agree with the coasting part about LBJ though. Injuries were just the cherry on top. |

Westbrook is a flawed player, but he's fitting in OK. If the only other choice for this year's team was trading for Hield, you still trade for Westbrook because at age 36/37 you can't have LeBron be our only ball handler/floor general, especially when he's playing too many minutes.
|
We didn't need another elite playmaker/ball handler. Especially one who can't shoot and can't defend while getting paid 44M.
The suns have 36 year old Chris Paul and one backup in Cam Payne. The warriors have Steph and Draymond and no one else. Not counting Kyrie, the Nets only have Harden. Mills is a shooting guard.
Caruso, Nunn and Rondo would have been enough as secondary playmakers alongside Lebron. Going the Hield route would have given us a lot more flexibility and more tradable assets anyway so if the need for tweaking the roster ever arose, it would have been easier to make changes. _________________ Plan A - Schroder/Hield/Lebron/AD/Gasol

Voted Pelinka but "broke up championship team for no reason" is slogan we need to retire. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. I can't blame him for trying to make an upgrade, he just didn't make the right one. If the right player in place of the DS package worked out we wouldn't be talking about Russ.
I know it's murky how much say ownership/Klutch/LBJ has but Pelinka's job was to give Vogel a roster to contend with, not against. There is a lot of blame to go around, but I think we were one upgrade away from finishing the window well. |

I don’t think the championship team would have repeated, in fact I loved all the signings last year. This year I can’t believe Arica is our only true 4 who can defend. I’ve said this a ton, and I’ll continue to. Small ball only works when your small ball players are threats to score three ways. The lakers don’t have these caliber guards, so they are basically sacrificing defense for no added offense. |

The problem is that we have 44 million tied down to a guy who can't shoot nor defend. We had no choice but to sign one dimensional veteran minimums who can only either defend but can't shoot, or shoot but can't defend. Decent 3&D guys make more than the minimum.
So we have to pick our poison when we pair any of them with Westbrook, we either have a backcourt duo that can't defend(Russ+Ellington, Russ+Monk) or can't shoot(Russ+THT, Russ+Baze).
What makes it worse is that no other team wants Russ so we're stuck with him. _________________ Plan A - Schroder/Hield/Lebron/AD/Gasol

Westbrook. Biggest move of the offseason. Changed the dynamics and style of play of the team completely. So then you look at who got you WB. It was Pelinka/Bron/AD. So you have to give the credit to WB/AD/Bron/Klutch/Pelinka for orchestrating a move that has so far been a pretty bad move.
Now things could change, but for now, whether we run the big 3 together, or play a big 2, or whatever we do, they just don't seem to play very well. In large part because WB's game and contract is so imposing on the team, just so difficult to adapt.
It really tilts towards Pelinka when you look at how THT is playing, how we let Caruso go and need man defense badly. How we're older team that does not have enough athleticism. In the end, you probably say the current situation falls mostly on Pelinka. It's not over yet, there's a trade deadline and moves could be made to correct/improve, and things could change with our health.
I just hope we don't make the foolish mistake of letting a good coach with a winning scheme like Vogel go over this mess. |

Whomever decided to do the Westbrook trade. That is #1. Second is Rob for the really bad roster makeup. |

Magic hit the nail on the head on First Take this morning. He said the Lakers had the Buddy Hield trade already done and back up out of that. They could have signed DeRosan intead the made a trade for Westbrook. If we had Buddy Hield, DeRosan you could keep Caruso, KCP, etc. LINK Much more Lakers talk in the video. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

If there was a way to get Buddy and Derozen AND keep KCP Caruso……Rob should commit harakiri (professionally not literally) |

Unfortunately Magic is full of (bleep). He doesn't know the salary cap rules.
The only way to get DDR is via S&T. Meaning we would have to send those same players (KCP, Kuzma, etc.) to the Spurs. Doing it would hard cap us, making it impossible to keep Caruso or trade for Hield (since we would basically have no players left on the roster). |
