on the walk-off that Frank Vogel told him he wasn't going to play tonight, and he was "kind of down." But he says he stayed ready even though he wasn't expecting to play, and was happy he was able to make an impact.
DH needs to start. |
Dwight has not been the same Dwight as 2 years ago. He is older now. It's showing. But today he was the Dwight we were getting 2 years ago.
Memories are sort of stuck back in 2019. Dwight's aged and hasn't shown the same stuff either. This was a great game. Rondo also played well. I think DAJ/Dwight are fine in the limited minutes they play. What changed things for us was that we had some outstanding perimeter D tonight. Monk, Reaves, Westbrook, Ellington, all fought hard on screens.
Maybe helped we saw this team a little while ago and read their schemes better. |
I definitely had 2019 flashbacks with that extended defensive dominance - especially in the interior. Now *that* is a joy to watch. Reminds me how much I really liked our 2019 club; you knew night in, night out, we were gonna be a PITA for folks because of the D.
I'm really hoping the rhythm they found tonight sticks with them. By about 7 minutes in the 4th I could feel the team just flowing together. That sort of stuff is what allows teams like the Suns (minus Booker) or suddenly the Dubs (still minus Klay) to be so damn competitive. When a team is sluggish, out of synch, etc, it's like someone who has never danced trying to dance...awkward, odd looking. _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. Jesus, does it take this performance for Vogel to realize Howard is still much better than DeAndre Jordan????? We fans knew this from the beginning |

Even a slightly faded Dwight is still much better than Jordan simply because of his physicality and defensive IQ. Jordan is pretty much worthless when he lost his athleticism. Dwight is still a very useful NBA player |

What changed things for us tonight is not having the first action a team does leading to a layup - that was all DH IMHO. So now our perimiter guys have a chance to play a little D. Sactown sucks --in fact -- most of the teams we've played suck. We just can't defend and we leak like a sieve and that's largely due to DAJ who just doesn't have anything left at the NBA level. Given an average defense - we'll win our share of games. Given unlocked bank vault defense - any team that tries and gives even the slightest push will beat us. DH at least puts up a savy hard working security guard like Defense with the IQ to anticipate threats to our paint.
I can't say enough for this - DH just has to play -- regardless of how much he's lost from 2 years ago. We simply have no other good options and DH is at least passable to good -- to sometimes possibly spectacular!

He won the championship with us in October of 2020 not 2019. Honestly I don't really see that much of a difference between last year and this year....Seems like the same player |

That was the 2019-2020 season, which means...they also played in 2019. Nowhere were the comments about tonight's second half performance limited to the precise time they won a championship. Rather, it was a reference to the season. To that end, if we are being that pedantic, your post is no more correct, or incorrect, than what else was written. _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. So… all we’ve needed all along is a Dwight size effort from everybody |

The Laker defense finally showed up. Good defense leads to good offense. It would take too much energy to play the way they did in the 3rd for 48. It has to be paced. If we gauge and play we could win a lot of games. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I know he's key but the team seems to play harder when Bron's not in the lineup. If they played that way all the time we'd have a better record. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
