Quote: | Marcus Freeman to be named Notre Dame head coach
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish moved quickly to replace Brian Kelly, and are staying in-house to do so.
Notre Dame will promote defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman to the head coach position, as first reported by Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports. Multiple reports also indicated that offensive coordinator Tommy Rees has agreed to remain at Notre Dame.
Freeman is in his first season as Notre Dame’s defensive coordinator, and clearly made a strong impression. The 35-year-old had previous stints as a defensive coordinator at Purdue and Cincinnati before joining the Fighting Irish. Freeman has a reputation as a rising star in coaching circles, and is considered an excellent recruiter. Kelly is a huge fan, and reports suggested he had been trying to get Freeman to join him at LSU.
Freeman gets the job despite rumored interest in other more experienced coaches. It sounds like Freeman was also the preferred choice of Notre Dame’s current team as well.

Certainly will be a popular move with the current players, and perhaps with recruits as well. Now let's see if he can be a head coach. |

Well that certainly doesn't make the MWC look like their any good.
SDSU gets annihilated by Utah State on national TV coverage on FOX.
Bama in control of the SEC championship, looks like they going in as a favorite in the playoffs despite having 1 more loss than Michigan. |

I read an article stating if Bama had 2 losses would they make the playoffs...guess I forget they got the same number of losses as Michigan. |

Yeah, most prognostications said if Alabama lost today, they're out of the playoffs. I don't think Alabama makes it with 2 losses. |

These playoffs suck. Just the SEC destroying everybody again. |

Yeah, ever since they implemented the playoff system, it's been dominated by 5 teams: Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia, Oklahoma
Some variations of these same 5 teams every year. |

I don’t think Oklahoma has won a playoff game yet. Have they? They have been much more competitive than Notre Dame though (and Cincinnati and Michigan). Ohio State hasn’t won since 2014 but they at least won a couple of playoff games. Clemson has been the only non SEC team to win it since Ohio State in 2014. |

Yeah, I mean how the playoffs have been monotonous. Every year basically the same 5 teams make it. |

Most of the college football playoffs have been duds. Very few of the semi finals have been interesting. |

Quote: | Early odds are out for whoever the Tide draw next: Alabama’s -6 against Michigan and +1 versus Georgia, according to FanDuel. |
After this performance by Georgia, I wonder if they'll be an even bigger favorite vs. Alabama. |

That conference is pretty much the gold standard for college football the past 20 years....especially the Alabama program. Going back 20 years, the conference has won the national title 12 times....that is domination even if the rest of the country and fans of teams in other conferences are tired of them winning. |

Didn't they just get beat pretty roundly by Alabama? |

yup
It's odd, Geogia's looked impressive in every game except the Alabama game.
Alabama's looked pedestrian in most games except the Georgia game. |

Alabama didn't have its top WR, Metchie, playing today. Also had a CB out, I believe. I have to give the edge to Alabama just based on recent history and how they looked against Georgia a few weeks ago, but they can't win them all so maybe it's Georgia's time. |

It's hard to beat the same team twice though.
Georgia favored by -2.5 on Draftkings:

On the bright side, at least people don’t have to wonder how Cincinnati and Michigan would do if they were left out in the old system. |

SEC is getting most of the 5 star recruits from the rest of the country, no surprise they are kicking butt. Look how awful the Pac-12 is now, because most of the local 5 star recruits bailed on the Pac-12 for a conference like the SEC. |

I expect Alabama to beat Georgia by double digits (again)
And I don't like Saban or Alabama, they were a choke job by Auburn in the 4th qtr away from missing the playoff this season so it is brutal they are going to win again. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Georgia being favored feels like a sucker line. Like Vegas wants you to take Alabama. Especially if the line moves even more in Georgia's favor as kickoff approaches. |

I can't believe Georgia is favored. Lanny is loading up on this one so you all may want to take Georgia. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |
