DH and HBK are key - everyone else is icing on the cake. People will talk about Monk and others but - We're down a bunch without DH and it doesn't matter.
GO DH!!!!!! |

Lebron lately has slowed the pace on both sides of the ball |
There was a distinct lack of step-back LeBron while we were maintaining that lead. |

I saw him picking up dudes off the floor making them get back on D and stop crying to the Refs about calls. Get your A$$$ back.

The fact that Vogel keeps giving DAJ minutes over Dwight tells you all you need to know about him as a coach. |

Dwight was the X factor tonight. I wonder why he wasn't getting much PT lately.
His rebounding, defense and intimidation were a big part of our dominant second half. From now on he needs at least like 18 minutes a game.
Easily our best win of the season (so far). |

He told Dwight before the game he wasn’t gonna play him apparently. Cause I guess we don’t have issues protecting the paint. |

Frank gonna get fired if he don't start DH -- the D just changed completely -- people think D is about blocking shots and steals -- NO!!! it's about disrupting plays. You can see his IQ and little movements stopping set after set so the team has to go one on one after that.
again go DH - and frank hope you have your eyes open. |

FIRST BLOWOUT WIN OF THE YEAR
Lakers win 117-92.
Did not look like it would end up like this. The first half? No LBJ. Abysmal defense. Lakers got lucky on some 3s and stayed close. Down 9 at the half but gave up 59, many inside the paint as the D was just a turnstile.
The 3rd opened up somewhat similarly. But then Russ, Dwight, and AD helped lead a charge where, after falling down 14, Lakers went on an incredible 35-8 run. The interior D, with Dwight and AD, began busting up lobs, tipping passes, and otherwise being frenetic in the interior and the Kings began to lose their way as they were living in the interior in the first half.
Russ was actually pretty incredible in the third. If you have a chance, watch that third quarter. He created a timely charge. Then put the Kings D in the popcorn machine with some crafty fakes and found the open man - when he wasnt doing that, he was attacking the rim at will and scoring.
What was interesting is the lineup when AD and Russ sat in the third and beginning the 4th. Rondo, Reaves, Dwight, Melo, and Ellington. They actually pushed the lead out, with Dwight just eating up the Kings bigs.
Just a terrific win, all things considered. I'll admit - I've been very pessimistic of late with this team. But...something just seemed different tonight in that second half. It was like...they found something?
I temper caution, because the Kings shooting did just go ice cold from 3, even when open. They only scored 33 points in the second half, a combo of great D by the Lakers, and the Kings going cold.
The Lakers next game is the Clippers. One thing about them, is they play as a team. If the Lakers can take that one, not only is that 3 in a row, but it likely means they played good D as well.
In any event, I'm improved over "ho-hum"...actually...a tad excited about the Clipper game now to see if these guys figured something out. But, ready to be dissapointed _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. He truly has no idea that he’s not as good as he thinks." - Killer_Z

I think he said something like that to AD when they got into their little fracas and then all of a sudden Dwight wasn't getting minutes. So I'm glad to see Vogel has reconsidered that stance. Dwight it too important not to get playing time. |

Well yeah we were experimenting with that tired LeBron at the five gimmick. |

He and also Russ...I'm no Russ fan, but dude deserves props for what he was doing in that third quarter. I was impressed. _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. He truly has no idea that he’s not as good as he thinks." - Killer_Z |

DH knows how to play the P&R - it's all about timing -- when to double and when to get back - plus communicating to your fellow pickee -- DH is solid -- not perfect but solid. DAJ just sucks @$$ balls - he gives a half effort then quits. DH never quits and also brings the pain!
GO DH!!! |

I’m starting to wonder if he’s doing that cause he sees that Lebron is barely moving on D at all. So he’s trying to mask it by having him defend the slowest guys out there. |

Dwight Howard tells
@LakersReporter
on the walk-off that Frank Vogel told him he wasn't going to play tonight, and he was "kind of down." But he says he stayed ready even though he wasn't expecting to play, and was happy he was able to make an impact.
DH needs to start. |

Dwight has not been the same Dwight as 2 years ago. He is older now. It's showing. But today he was the Dwight we were getting 2 years ago.
Memories are sort of stuck back in 2019. Dwight's aged and hasn't shown the same stuff either. This was a great game. Rondo also played well. I think DAJ/Dwight are fine in the limited minutes they play. What changed things for us was that we had some outstanding perimeter D tonight. Monk, Reaves, Westbrook, Ellington, all fought hard on screens.
Maybe helped we saw this team a little while ago and read their schemes better. |
