That shameful loss last night against the #Kings is the wake-up call for this team.

How many wake-up calls do they need at this point? Did lebron and AD have too much turkey last night?

I think they'll make a run but it will be because they improve on offense (22th in offensive efficiency currently).

I'm not sure if the defense is redeemable given how old the team is. Ariza and Nunn will not magically fix the defense. They are ranked 20th in defensive efficiency at the moment.

No hope for this team, even after Vogel gets axed.

They have a reputation of not being able to sustain for 48 minutes. They aren’t capable of playing a complete game. It shows.

They can make a run or two per game, but then are too old, flawed and lazy on defense to garner any hope.

Every opponent knows this Lakers squad can’t keep a lead.

You guys are fooling yourselves if you think the Lakers can pull off a winning streak. They have no commitment, they have too much pride. Like Dwight said, they need to be humble and win with grace, but instead they make shots and celebrate like rookies. This team will continue to underperform because the cancer has already set in. And even if they somehow start to turn it around, Phoenix, GS, Utah, Dallas, Milwaukee, those teams are light years better. Everyone says Lakers improved, well do you think the other teams just sat on their ass during the off-season?! No, they all got better! This team is done, I guarantee it

I believe in this team: but we need to start thinking outside the box and use some creativity

Designate one of them as the 6th man off the bench (depending on the match-up), and never have all three on the court at once.
Ex:
RW/AD + shooters (LBJ 6th man) vs modern teams
LBJ/RW + shooters (AD 6th man) vs small teams
AD/LBJ + shooters (RW 6th man) vs big teams

WE NEED SPACING and loading all three at once, is not it.

It feels to me this team only performs when the going gets good. Russ sometimes can reverse that, like he did against the Pistons.

But the team can't take a punch most times

The hope for this team is that there really aren’t many good teams out there. That’s why they remain the Vegas favorite no matter how poorly they play.

Horry and Trudell like to peddle defeatist ideas that the other teams just try harder against the Lakers but I see it usually being the opposite. Most of these teams are unimpressive and since the Lakers don’t make a consistent effort, the other teams hang around and the games are closer than they should be. But a .500 or so record gets them to the playoffs and it’s anyones game at that point.

If the Lakers were the Vegas betting favorite (they aren’t) it would be because Laker fans were betting on them. Instead, fans are putting their money on the Nets, Warriors and Bucks. The Lakers have lost 11 games while two teams in their own division have combined to lose 5 (Warriors 2 and Suns 3). They are 8 games out of first place after 21 games. They need to rise to the level of GS and Phoenix because it doesn’t look like they will be lowering themselves to the Laker’s level. They still have 59 games to play and likely need to win 30-35 of them to make the playoffs.

Robert Horry on the Lakers 10-11 start:

“Nobody fears the Lakers. As soon as they get a lead, they have all these antics… They’ve only won 1 game this year by 10 points and Houston is the worst team in the NBA.”

(via Spectrum SportsNet)

Big shot Bob nailed it. They aren’t good enough on defense to even have any antics. It’s easy for the opposition to score on them so they should probably lay low with the antics.

Horry needs to double check first before criticizing the team, besides the Rockets the Lakers also won against the Cavs by 12 points earlier in the season

Yup, this is something I don't see enough talk about.. If this team ever figures it out and decides to give actual consistent effort they basically have an easy road to the Finals depending on maybe how the Warriors look at seasons end especially with Klay back.

The more likely scenario though is where they never quite reach there potential but do improve enough to where they become much more dangerous then they are currently. Even just reaching this level we have a good chance at winning it all this season imo.

It doesn't change the fact that this team is brutal to watch thus far from an effort standpoint but they're farrrr from being anywhere remotely close to "having no chance" due to a pretty weak overall collection of Contenders this season.

It still infuriates me just how often a huge chunk of our players consistently stay back and complain about calls or just simply decide to walk back while the opposition is having countless possessions a game where our defense either only has 4 back or is in scramble mode.

They do deserve every bit of criticism and probably more up to this point though. AD def. needs to stop talking as well if he's not going to go into 2 way beast mode for a full game because at this point the rest of the team probably is just rolling there eyes at his comments. He's right in the middle of his prime on a roster that has plenty of guys that can get him the ball if he puts in the work so there's really no excuses except that he's simply fat and happy rn living off the Bubble Championship still.

That's true not that many good teams but the handful of teams that are good would throttle the Lakers in a playoff series and probably sweep them. And the teams that aren't that good would take the Lakers to 7 games and win half the time if they were to play. This team's defense is really ugly.

Individually, this team is a beast. But then again basketball is a team sport. Ball movement is critical. That is also what is lacking right now. Too much isolation play. I envy other teams (esp. #Warriors) where I can see a lot of ball movement (fast). That is how the Kings beat us.
