I mean yeah it sucked he fouled Morant on that 3, but see how well he had been contesting that 3. That call can go either way. A lot of refs would have let that go. These refs wanted to control the game in the end. Very obvious.
The fact that we at least have a perimeter defender who can go out and put his body on a guy is huge. When you look at our weaknesses, that was one of the one's we definitely thought we had.
It's easy to come in for 4-6 minutes a half and have a lot of energy and play against 2nd units or bring your top speed against a tired 1st unit. That is different when you switch that player into a starter. No one else has shown me they can start, yet.
For now I think we have 4 starters, AD/Bron/Baze/Westbrook. I think as the season evolves, our 5th starter may be another wing, or guard. Depending on the comfort zone of AD/Bron/Westbrook. They certainly looked comfortable today with Melo. DAJ is a token starter, and as the season evolves, I can't see DAJ be the starter. Even if he is, it's a token role. It's going to be another wing or guard in there with that group of AD/Bron/Baze/Westbrook.
Baze could have used a little more help tonight against Morant. One man can't chase this kid all night. Morant is a relentless competitor and a terrific scorer.
It's a thankless job but Baze brings his hard hat and lunch pail every night.
He does a lot of the dirty work and usually guards the opponents best players.
I hope he can get to that KCP-AC 3&D level for us, that relentless pursuit of defense
I feel he's been given a very tough thankless role and has done it admirably. Nice steal/deflection at the end of the game to seal it. Good hard fouls on bigger guys too on switches.
We signed him for the minimum. If we are expecting to perform at the level of two guys making more than $20 million combined we will be disappointed. I like that he is not a liability on either end and basically plays hard. A passable option as starter and closer IMO. Nobody else has been as consistent in terms of two-way play. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit)

Same, he was absolutely stellar against Steph and has been mostly very consistent on both ends. Never super flashy or anything but just does his job.
Baze is pretty much playing the KCP role for us so far, and is doing a pretty decent job of it. Hopefully he can keep up being an important two-way role player _________________ #18 next...
Playing 28 minutes a game. Taking on usually the toughest wing/2 guard assignment. Shooting 41.4% from 3, making 1.5 per game. I mean if you look at what the team paid KCP and what this guy makes. It's been a huge get so far.

With some key steals and deflections.
He's outperforming his contract. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".
Who misses more layups… Andre Drummond or Kent Bazemore.
I know...he's been okay...who would you prefer between Baze and Bradley? Because as soon as THT and Nunn come back the team will have to make a decision on Bradley...if they keep him add another $7 million to the books....so they'll have to cut someone. Out of Nunn, THT, Wayne, Monk Reaves, Bradley and Baze...I would ditch Baze.

this really depends on how Nunn and THT plays.
players we can't cut- Nunn, THT, Reaves.
AB has been the best defender, and is actually shooting the same as Baze, so as of today, i'd cut Baze too.
maybe we can make a trade later on with THT/Nunn due to their salaries.

I agree with you Madd....Bradley is the better defender....how well THT and Nunn perform is going to be telling.
