What a talent. What a mensch. A man who brought so much joy into the world. May he rest in peace.

His small role in Dave was priceless too.

One of the freaking greatest for sure . . .

The Heartbreak Kid was another of his great performances.

RIP

Agree totally. I think the first thing I saw him in was Seems Like Old Times, co-starring Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase. Hawn really steals the show in that one, but Grodin's uptight husband was a great foil in the film. And now you're reminding me of how great Dave is. Another of those charming films that you can watch over and over again.

Always enjoyed his appearances on Letterman. At one point, he stole Super Dave Osborne's bit of acting offended or dismayed by Letterman's jokes/quips and would stop midsentence to glare at Dave while Letterman cackled.

Off topic, but Kevin Kline is a goldmine for nice films you can watch over and over again.

I really loved him in Heartbreak Kid, I thought it was his best performance. It took talent to survive Thieves, a mid-70s play that didn't translate well to the screen.

Robert Guillaume was in it. Maid to judge: "I had to have my feet scraped."

Not to be too on the nose, but I’m guessing you like In and Out? We just watched that the other night. Still makes me laugh.

That's the only other older movie of his besides Seems Like Old Times that I've seen. I did actually see Dave at the movies, but have forgotten that one completely save for the broadest of strokes (that Kline looked like the Prez and became his doppelganger). Only saw it that one time, wasn't a fan. I think I saw most of King Kong 76 when I was a kid because I remember Jessica Lange in it, but I haven't seen it again since prolly 1983 or somethin. I always have wanted to re-check that, but I never get to it. I've had the notion to see it again since the 90s, practically, but the planets never align. Gladly, I've never seen Ishtar. I remember that being called an all-time rotten tomato even when it was new.

Anyone recall his ill-fated nightly talk show? The Charles Grodin Show I think it as called (good name)?

"It was a sequel. She was under contract!" Haha, yes, I like the movie. However, I think Dave is definitely his best movie. Well, on second thought, A Fish Called Wanda is really good. Tough call for me.

Life as a House is my favorite underrated Kline movie.
