Apple TV has that movie Cherry that came out this year. I thought it was pretty good. Sad to hear Without Remorse is bad. I was hoping it would be good. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

What movie is that from?
Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942)
I remember the movie. Cagney was a great dancer. I think Michael Jackson got some moves from him. Like spins and up on his toes moves. LINK _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I was hoping too, especially Mortal Kombat and Without Remorse, high expectations. Kong, I’d have watched it just for the hell of it. I don’t have appletv so I’ll wait the next HBOmax premiere

I'm not much on musicals. I thought Annie 1982 was a good one. Carol Burnett was hilarious. Was it digitally and CGI made? CAST _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I think memento is his masterpiece, and I appreciate Inception a lot more than you do. Dunkirk was loud and at times pretty, but I’d rank it much lower. Agree on Insomnia and The Prestige. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. I would switch Dunkirk with The Prestige, Inception with Memento and Batman Begins with The Dark Knight. But otherwise pretty solid list. I still need to watch Tenet.

I tried 3 times. I can't get into Tenet. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Dunkirk was pretty meh to me. It was well shot. But the story didn't keep me captivated like other Nolan works I'd rank higher.
I'd put Inception higher than Tenet. The sci-fi was easier to digest. And I feel like the themes in Inception work on more levels.
Memento and The Prestige have some of my favorite endings I've ever seen in a movie. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

I don't think so. My mom was working at the AFI when Lynch was a student making Eraserhead. He actually stored the goat embryo from the film in the same refrigerator my mom kept her lunch. So she got to know him a bit. From what she has told me, he was just a guy who who was way out there. There was no ego on the level of DDL. He's just a guy who does his thing and doesn't care whether you are in or out, he has his vision and doesn't care beyond that. And from what I have seen from his work since, that makes sense. He's not chasing affirmation, he's just doing what he wants to do, as his most recent work proves. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

What do any of you eloquent movie lads have to say for LA Confidential and as it compared to Boogie Nights? Better film? What was great about either? I like both, own both, saw LA C in full for prolly the 5-6th time on telly the other day. Last movie I've seen in full, and it's been a number of years since the last go round. I think Boogie Nights was the better movie from that year, 97. Stylistically, LAC was great, which is mostly why I enjoy it, but the ending was Hollywood. Boogie Nights had a more uncertain ending, tho a peaceful one. The extended "Falling down" sequences were pensive and kinda scary for the characters involved and the Rahad Jackson/Cosmo/Todd scene was one of the most bizarro scenes since the Candy Colored Clown scene in Blue Velvet and I remember thinking that at the time. Anyway. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

LA Confidential was a good movie. Boogie Nights, meh. Julianne Moore is a natural readhead. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Odd fight, but I like Boogie Nights. I think it's a deeper film. And deceptively so, which I appreciate (it can come off as a bland movie about sex, but it actually has a lot to say about insecurity, ego, the need to belong, the price to fame etc.). LA Confidential is a fantastic neo-noir, but I don't view it as the cream of the crop within it's genre. Boogie Nights feels more singular, and ambitious, and memorable. I view it as PTAs Goodfellas.

I'm going to watch Boogie Nights again. This time I'll watch from you guys' perspective. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

The song "You Got The Touch" was originally from the 1986 "Transformers: The Movie". The first movie version based on the toon, but animated. I went to see it when I was a kid. I don't remember, however, if I knew the song was corny as hell yet. Probably not, was too young to know any better. There wasn't a shortage of corny music on MTV in 1986 (tho the Aerosmith/DMC collabo was good). If you listen to the lyrics, there is no doubt that they work equally well for Dirk Diggler and Optimus Prime.
