I love Kong, but all beasts bow to the true king.

Never got into classic monster movies, but I'll pick Godzilla because he inspired a great BÖC song.

Gotta go with Kong. He's the guy who didn't want to come here but's still fighting to save us.

Godzilla vs Kong. Another movie that, IMO, didn't live up to the hype.

Godzilla. Fire breathing dragon constantly saving the world vs a big Ape out for just himself and his girlfriend?

Besides, Kong climbs the Empire state building, Godzilla knocks it over. How is it a contest?

Godzilla because it's absurd that they made Kong this big imo. How tf you gonna tell me this version of Kong can climb the Empire State Building? This version of Kong is as big as the empire state building himself!

Just finished it. I liked it. It was well cast. And I feel like it was exactly what I signed up for.
7.4 on IMDB. Which is a very strong score for a blockbuster monster flick. Higher than every Jurassic Park besides the 1st. Higher than Pacific Rim. Higher than any other (American) Godzilla or King Kong movie.
My 1 critique is there is no after credits scene setting up the next installment. But I'll chalk that up to COVID and ... maybe they've used up all the monsters in the previous movies.

Did you really like it better than Pacific Rim? That's one of my favorite big monster movies of all time, so i'm about to get a "sneak preview" of the movie before the GF wakes up

I was just talking about the IMDB rating being higher. Personally, I feel the same way about Pacific Rim. I'd give the edge to Pacific Rim, but G v. K is definitely worth checking out.

What's amazing is how quickly the Japanese rebuilt Tokyo for each Godzilla sequel. Why were the US automakers blindsided?

Finished watching it, and i enjoyed the movie a lot! Tough to say if it's better than Pacific Rim overall, but it's very good imo.

DAMN!! Everybody liking Godzilla vs Kong except me. I'm gonna watch it again. I must be missing something. I like Pacific Rim. It has a leg up. I'm a fan of Idris Elba.

Same here.
I'd describe Pacific Rim as a good movie that happens to be about monsters.
G v. K is a very well done monster movie.

My thoughts on the Kong v. Godzilla debate is that Brian Tyree Henry and Hong Chau should be the leads in a Hollywood romcom.

It definitely lived up to the hype. I thought it was a great move to focus a bit more on KK since GZ already had 2 movies, plus he doesn’t communicate; he’s essentially just a sentient nuke. The lore of their history was a nice addition, something I’m sure can be milked for sequels/prequels.

I think this will be popular because it has a decent story for the humans like the first GZ movie, and it has a ton of action like the second GZ movie. Both of those movies were too heavy on one, and light on the other while this balanced them better, imo. Plus the agility of KK makes the fights wayyyy better.

Fun movie. I'm digging the universe. Should be a crossover with Pacific Rim.
