Does Lonzo even have a shooting coach? His Free THrow shooting is still hovering around 50%. Dude is just training wrong or something.
Seriously, a NBA guard that shoots that percentage from the FT Line? Come on Man.
Rajon Rondo once shot 39% from the free throw line and for his career has shot 60% on an average of 2 a game. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

The difference is Rondo was an elite playmaker.
LaVar's mouth aside, his kids are good matchup bench players on a good team. They have their nights, but not enough to make them starters; IMO. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team !

Melo is a future star. I watch a lot of Pelicans, Zo has forgotten who he is and SVG is having him bring the ball up court and get rid of it and post up in the corner waiting for a shot. He’s afraid of scoring inside always looking to pass even if theirs an open layup. His jumper has disappeared again and if he’s not hitting from deep, that kills the team

Isn’t that who he was here too?
And didn’t he look to be a failure here? At least in LA he had a time where he was allowed to push tempo. He was trusted after getting healthy last year by Gentry to push pace and he excelled. He’s shackled in that slow motionless offense. SVG was a HORRIBLE coaching choice. One of the worst possible tbh.

He was garbage as a Laker and is garbage as a Pelican.

One thing I will say,...last night really showed his worth and reminded me what he can do when he plays his game and doesn’t overthink. Really held Beal in check, and when he went down it got bad. Mr. All D Team Bledsoe got COOKED. If ball would resign for around What Kuz did I think that’s a no brainer. He’s not quite the defender Marcus Smart is, but he’s overall a better shooter and passer. Lots of similarities tho.
The way I see it, when a guy is always looking for ways to fit in and there is talk about what he could be, should be etc.
I think it is just false expectations. If Lonzo Ball were a 26th pick, we would have been talking about him as a pretty good player or prospect to sign to the MLE next year. I mean, he is just that, a MLE level player at best, at the moment.
He has some court vision, if your PG does not have the ability to be a scoring threat, then you better hope the 1st option player is an elite playmaker. I think of Rondo, and how he failed everywhere he was asked to be something he was not, or where he did not have at least 2 bonafide stars to play off and set up. Ball is not on Rondo level as how he sees the game, but he has the similar pros and cons IMO.
Lozno will thrive when he has 2 bonafide stars to play off and does not have to do much more than initiating the offense. Then he can focus on defense, leadership. intangibles, and pick his spots when to be aggressive. That is the role I saw for him when he was a Laker.
Why it may not work with Pelicans, is their top 2 dogs are still not there yet in terms of being able to win together. Ingram is a all-star level player. Zion is emerging. But together, them alone, is not like say having AD-Bron, or elite duo. So then the pressure mounts on other guys, guys like Ball.
Personally if you asked me to take Ball back, flaws and all. At MLE-Kuz money. I rather have what Ball brings to the table at that value. He could be that player for the Pels but he needs Zion to get a lot better to be that. He himself, I just do not see. I have never seen Jason Kidd with him, even though I know there were some expectations. I saw him much more like a Rondo and I think you could find posts on that on this site years ago.
20 years ago, Ball would likely have been one of the most valued PGs in the game as teams were running a lot of offense through the traditional PG mold. The game has changed so much as has the PG position, that now guys that do what Ball does, is not valued as much, nor are teams looking to give him the ball and just be patient as he learns the NBA game.
Not that it means much, but he's 14th in RPM, which was apparently the end-all metric for greatness according to the "experts" here 4-5 years ago. He's above players like Harden, Jaylen, Mitchell, Trae, Tatum, which again, shows the futility of using a single metric to measure a player. There are a multitude of other metrics that are more important than RPM right now, given how the game has evolved to favor 3pt shooters.
I've seen a handful of Pelicans' games this season and the opponent defensive strategy seems to be pack the paint (Zion effect) and let them shoot threes, as they are one of the weakest 3pt shooting teams in the league. If Lonzo gets his 3pt % to a respectable number, I can see so much opening up for them. Last night was a good example of how good the Pels can be if they hit their 3s. We'll see if it continues.
And MJST is right. Lonzo's got knee issues that need to be addressed. That will hold him back from playing well at a consistent level.
Adjusted Lonzo's stats that he's had across the last 8 games. Very solid as he's rounding back into health. Let's hope he remains on the track healthwise.
He scored 18 points in the second half and took over in the 4th quarter, defensively as well in a game that was down to the wire. Hope he continues regaining his health! _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Last I checked, his ft's were 62.5%. Meanwhile, don't look now, but he's shooting very well from 3 on a high volume of shots over the last umpteen games. As he's doing that he's putting up #'s. Apparently it's about to be time for all the Nostradamuses who wrote him off as a bust, to begin recalculating.
Also Ja Morant shot 5-14 on 35% from the Field and 20% from three and was held to 16 points. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:
