Really enjoyed how they handled Kreese's character backstory.

.

The writing is WCW Nitroesque...let's start with the extremely casual transition from possible death to probable paraplegic to taking multiple Owen Hart cheapshots to the fractured lumbar and still winning a 1v1 after a couple of weeks of physical therapy, and a mid-battle royale alliance turn. I enjoyed it, but c'mon.

When your doing a show built on a foundation of nostalgia and charm it’s best to be like Costanza and go out on a high note. This was a 2 season show that is now going to be a 4+ season show.

Yea but the writers made it work. To have the whole series top 10 on Netflix for almost a year is amazing

Eh. They're mostly just rinsing and repeating the same beats ad nauseam.

I am with you on Miguel's mom.

Kumiko was in fine shape, too. In fact, I think she's more attractive now than she was as a teen.

I finished watching, but I think I need to go back and watch the last 2-3 episodes. I had a little too much bourbon the other night and my memory is a little hazy.

For my fellow Kais, this is a dumb thing I wrote 8 years ago but was also incredibly fun that I always get some emails on when a new season starts. My oral history of the 1984 All-Valley Under 18 Karate Championship.

https://tvfury.wordpress.com/2013/10/21/1984-valley-karate-history/

Quote:

John “Johnny” Lawrence: First day Kreese takes over, he has all of us stand in a circle around him. Climbs into this six-foot-high wicker basket he stole at a street fair. Puts the lid on the thing. Sits in it for about three minutes. Weird Egyptian music starts playing on the dojo speakers. We’re all looking around. And Kreese slithers up out of it, with his tongue jutting out. Craziest thing I’ve ever seen. He finally gets out and starts pointing at guys to charge him. One after another they went after him. First kid, broken nose, bones sent up into his brain. Second kid, collapses his chest with a roundhouse kick. Third kid, shatters his ankle with a leaping kick you might remember from the time Bobby did it to a certain mama’s boy from Jersey. All of ’em are sprawled out on the mat. Kreese gets on his hands and knees and starts hissing at them, spitting in their eyes. From that day on, we knew what it meant to be a Cobra Kai.

I just binge-watched the entire series in 2 nights, doing seasons 2 and 3 last night/this morning. I'm a sucker for 80's nostalgia, which they do well, but even beyond that, I can't believe how good this show is. I totally bought in. I find it to be thoroughly entertaining, and I think that William Zabka is giving a genuinely great performance.

I agree that Tamlyn Tomita looked wonderful, and I'd say the same for Elisabeth Shue. By comparison, I thought Yuji Okumoto looked considerably older, although he is 7 years older than Tomita and 4 years older than Shue. Still, I thought he looked pretty rough.

Speaking of Tomita, I really liked the scenes from Okinawa, and I thought the tie-in with the little girl he saved during the monsoon who now works for the auto company was a great touch. I actually always thought that Part II was the best film of the bunch.

But I do wanna know if Hillary Swank still got dat booty. Can Cobra Kai at least answer that question?

Hey, don't be besmirching the good name of Peter Cetera now!

One of my old best friends looks just like him. Well I should say former friend since he turned into a QAnon/Magat. And before anyone asks, yes, he's in law enforcement.

I thought that honor was reserved (if you're a Laker fan) for Danny Ainge?

I mean. Just think on that face now...you know it starts riling up the desire to smash the guy's nose in. For old time's sake.

Just watched the two Okinawa episodes again from season 3, as my husband didn't see them last night as I was binging. (He fell asleep during episode 2 or something.) The Okinawa scenes really were so well done. Props to them for pulling it off.

Amazing show, but how the heck are the Cobra Kai kids not in jail? I’m beginning to think that the law enforcement in the show aren’t very good at their jobs, lmao.
