I would give what is left of my 401k to be able to play guitar like this:
Great rendition of a great song. As one of the commenter's said, Toy would indeed be proud. Saw 'em (MT)in the front row back when you could actually buy tickets from a ticket agency and get good seats on day one--and let me tell you, it was LOUD.

I believe I may have posted this in the "That's my Jam!" thread, but screw it, I don't care because it also belongs here.

Never heard this version before, but I do have the original MT album and have heard the original version a thousand times. This is a great version and due to the type of (gruffy) vocals, and the fact that most of MT is deceased, I'm sure this version is probably on par or even better than anything the current version of MT can muster... _________________ “Always remember... Thanks to lakeshow03 over in the sister thread, I was introduced to Gregory Alan Asakov. His cover is not well known, and I doubt the original is either.
I doesn't matter. This is a great song musically, but the lyrics, and the emotional effect of, and putting meaning to, make it one for the ages.
STUCK AT HOME, I find I have way too much time on my hands..
Let's look at the song: Baby Please Don't Go
Originally recorded as a blues song by Big Joe Williams in 1935, here he is performing it in 1965:
In 1964, Van Morrison's band "Them" recorded it as a rock song:
A few years after that, Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes did it:
Sometime later Aerosmith did their version:
So did AC/DC:
But, for me, the very best version (I know ..."finally" huh?) was by British rock band Budgie, it has the best arrangement, great bass n drums and guitar work. Not a grinding rock song like the others above it has slight jazzy feel to it..
So which version is your fav????
(Note the guitar solo starts at about 2:00) _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.”

Easy. Not only is the version by Them my favorite, it is one of my favorite songs, period, and one of the very best B sides (though originally the A side I believe) of all time.
Followed by the version that more people know and love:
Originally, and for some time to come, The Leaves version was my favorite. I wore out that side of the album before I even heard Hendrix do it. Now, I just like them both.
