Offense looks crisp. Looks like the passing is diminished a little. Seems to be leading the team - trusted with the endgame shots. Haven't seen enough to comment on D.

I really still hate the fact the Lakers dumped 2 lottery talents in Dlo & Randle. All b/c of the moronic MozDeng deals

I think the cold hard facts are evident now that the 2014 and 2015 draft class guys are getting paid.

There's a certain threshold that needs to be met before doling out big contracts.

I think Jules made the case for a 12-13m/year deal, but he thought he could get more elsewhere and a bigger role.

It's a cold world out there. Look at DLO's 2016 class for example:

KAT-paid
DLO-?
Oak-cut/min. deal
Porky-?
Mario-cut/small 1 year deal
WCS-?
Mudiay-traded for peanuts
Stanley-?

I saw a Nets beat writer Tweeting that DLo could get something similar to what Turner got from Nets or another team next summer. He needs to stay injury free. Cavs overpaid Lance imo just like we did with JC.

Here's an article with videos/stats from last season highlighting his defense:

https://netsrepublic.com/dangelo-russell-good-defense/

But yea, he looks even more engaged in the 4 games this preseason on the defensive end.. now let's see if it carries throughout the year tho.

The Ringer is sort of buying stock in DLo and the Nets this season:

Quote:
Who will be this season’s Pacers?

I’m going with Brooklyn, and I’m casting D’Angelo Russell as Victor Oladipo.

Russell was traded two seasons ago, but the former second overall pick hasn’t lived up to the hype he had going into the draft. His stint with Los Angeles ended in new Lakers management discarding and dissing him. Russell’s too many seasons in (this will be his fourth) for his shortcomings to be excused as him just being green, but he’s still a season away from permanent membership in the club of top draft picks who are decent but the public’s given up on them being truly special. (Club president: Michael Carter-Williams. Treasurer: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Waiting on his card in the mail: Nerlens Noel.)

The Pacers also had a group of adequate players who as a unit became passable behind Oladipo’s very, very strong lead. There’s a chance that the Nets could have something similar this season with Jarrett Allen, Allen Crabbe, Spencer Dinwiddie, and DeMarre Carroll. It also helps when the expectations are as low as Indiana’s were last October, and Brooklyn, which is projected to have the East’s 10th-worst win total, shares that quality without question.

They left out Caris LeVert. I predict him to have a breakout season along with DLO and they will be their top 2 players this season.

Damn.

Wish DLO could have made it on the Lakers. At least I was able to catch his last game as a Laker in person. What a coincidence as that was my first Lakers game @ Staples in like 10-12 years.

Yup. Living in the East Coast I catch Lakers games at the Garden or in Philly, but was my first time back to a game at Staples. As a DLO fan I'll always cherish that bittersweet game.

Struggling shooting, which is nothing new. Decisionmaking looks better early on.

Caris LeVert looks more valuable as a prospect then Russell, or maybe I’m just looking at the box score and making assumptions.

How? What happened? I was wondering why he wasn't in the game.

My bad. It looked like he got dinged up and went out, but apparently he was available to return and Atkinson went with LeVert and Dinwiddie down the stretch. Not an auspicious start.

Quote:
D'Angelo Russell scored eight points with two rebounds, five assists, one steal, two turnovers and one 3-pointer in 25 minutes against the Pistons on Wednesday.

He did not close this game because both Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert were playing too well.
