Thank You Metta World Peace. A true Laker Champion, and an amazing Human Being! Best of luck in all you do (unless you sign with the Heat or Astros)!

Game 7 Hero.

He was huge in the game you simply couldn't lose.

Much like Fisher in Game 3 of the same series, full LA hero privileges for life.

Props to you MWP!

Metta, kick some butt out there on the east coast. Slap Pierce around for old times' sake. Beat up Lebron too.

Thanks for helping the Laker legacy. You are forever a laker in my eyes.

I'm particularly going to miss his toughness and that touch of crazy. Opponents had to think twice about roughing us up when Ron was on the floor.

I've been a Lakers fan since the 80's and that game 7 by Artest was one of the most heroic games by any Lakers...

It's not just the fact that we won that game that was meaningful to me, it was how we won it, and he was at the center of that. That game was a GRIND. Nothing came easy whatsoever, but Metta, Kobe, Pau...heck, the entire team...just battled and battled. It's one thing to get it done when your shots are falling and the offense is running smoothly, but it's an entirely different thing when nothing seems to be going right. Metta's game that night (and his entire time as a Laker, even as his physical ability declined) was the embodiment about what I loved about those '09 & '10 title teams, even though Artest wasn't there for the first one. There was a beauty to the Kobe/Pau/Lamar trio, but those teams scrapped too. That was sorely missing this past year.

Better late than never.

You are one crazy cool dude. And you play the game right--at least 999 minutes out of 1000.

I am sad that business is such and that this new GD CBA is so punishing. Hopefully you will be a part of the organization sometime in the future.

Either as Ron Artest or Metta World Peace, you'll be remembered.

MWP's contributions weren't limited to game 7. Simply look at the following two stat lines:

2010 Pierce .407 FG%, 5.5 FTA, 17.5 ppg in 4 Celtics losses

2008 Pierce .500 FG%, 7.8 FTA, 21.8 ppg in 4 Celtics wins

Artest did exactly what the Lakers signed him for: put a lid on Pierce that Radmanovic couldn't.

His contributions in 2010 and #16 were well worth the contract the Lakers gave him...
