I'm also partial to Cream's cover of Robert Johnson's "Crossroads". Some blues purists didn't like it, but it brought RJ to a whole new audience.

BTW, in terms of songs released vs. number of covers, is there any artist who has a greater percentage of their catalogue covered than Robert Johnson?

Dylan may have been covered more in total, but not by percentage.

Mark Ronson's butchering of "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before" -- terrible that you can mash this song and the Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and reach number 2 in the UK.

I saw a band named Volbeat open for Metallica here in Toronto a few weeks back. They're from Denmark and have got a very interesting sound with metal/hard rock, punk and rockability/country influences. I had never heard of them before but I think their stuff is pretty good. The Metallica/Lamb Of God crowd seemed to dig them too.

Anyway, they did a cover of an old Hank Williams song called "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" which has gotten heavy play in my stereo. It has a country intro but then starts rockin'! It doesn't look like they released the song so this isn't an official video but the audio is here. I think it's cool -- what do you guys think?

Was just at a Pixies show and was reminded of them doing amazing covers of:

- I Can't Forget by Leonard Cohen
- Head On by Jesus and Mary Chain
- Winterlong by Neil Young

I like CCR's "Night Time Is The Right Time", but there wasn't much they couldn't make their own if they tried.

I like Plant's (The Honeydrippers) version of Sea Of Love. Sublime original.
