What is the point of even watching the game or playing it if that were actually true?

If Lebron has the refs in his back pocket, then so does Bynum, because they draw fouls at a nearly identical rate.

Fortunately for me, I'm going into the game assuming that the players will determine the outcome. It's a lot more enjoyable than thinking that I'm watching a staged game.

The rest of the team better be prepared to back up Kobe on both ends of the floor.

I'm not gonna be a homer like many and call LeBron ridiculous names or try to belittle him. The guy is the real deal, like it or not. Yes, the media is on his jock way too hard, but that doesn't mean he's not one of the top-tier players in the league.

If we play like we've been playing recently, we will lose. I hope we step up and try to protect our home court against what is looking more and more like a team with a great chance of coming out of the East for this year's Finals.

I'm a little worried about foul trouble if that's the case.

LBJ is stronger than Paul Pierce, but I thought Ariza did a nice job on him. I'm thinking that Kobe and Ariza have watched film together on LBJ which should help in preparation of trying to slow him down.

OT: I'm actually more afraid of what Mo Williams will do to Fisher than what LBJ does!

Only if Ariza stays man to man on MO. Then there's Gibson, you never know when he's going to go off. And Delonte West's shooting over 40% from beyond the arc. Big Z hitting 50% from 3. Good thing he's not playing.

You know, looking at their team, I'm not liking our zone against them. In fact, right now I don't like our zone period.

I'm fairly certain he'll be shooting 0% today.

Probably no Kobe guarding Lebron until crunch time, unless they want to see some early foul trouble.

i think lamar actually has the best chance of guarding lebron because of his length and quickness. this would be a good game to start odom again.

I really don't think Kobe can guard Lebron.

Lebron is stronger and faster.

All it takes is a screen and Kobe won't be guarding him no more.

I think Lebron will outplay Kobe today because the Cavs are a very good defensive team and that's why Kobe will struggle. The Lakers play garbage defense and that is why Lebron is going to go off.

I wonder if we will see the crab dribble tonight.

Didn't Lebron have 41 last time. And didn't luke defer back to Kobe when he could have taken an open shot, as a result Kobe took a forced 3 as time expired.

Ha! Didn't have to read long! Jax must be on some kind of mind altering medication for his hip or something. What was he thinking saying something like that?!

I don't want Kobe guarding Bron Bron because of the potential for a mano-con-mano match. Jackson is right. Also as some others have said Bron Bron is one of "Dave's golden boys." The order to keep people off of the king has already been given even as we speak. Kobe will be on the pine in the first quarter with foul trouble. Under no strategic circumstances should Kobe be guarding Lebron in the opening minutes of this game...

For matchup purposes, I'd start the following lineup:

PG: Sasha vs Daniel Gibson
SG: Kobe vs Mo
SF: Odom vs Lebron
PF: Gasol vs Wallace
C: Bynum vs Iglauskas

2nd unit;

PG: Fisher vs Snow
SG: Ariza vs Pavlovich
SF: Radmanovich vs Szerbiak
PF: Powell vs Hickson
C: Gasol vs Varegao

Because of Cleveland lack of depth, they can take Odom off the second unit to guard Lebron, and still make headway with the second unit. No way Clevelands backups can match the energy of Ariza and Powell.

Not bad, but I'd switch things up a little bit.

First off, I'd have Brian Grant guard Eric Snow. Sure, they play different positions, but since both of their NBA careers are over, it should balance out.

I'd also put Farmar on Ilgauskas. Again, yes, there's a difference of position, but since both are going to be wearing suits, I think that Farmar has a chance to hold his own fashion wise against Big Z.

one of those times Odom is tremendously valuable to the team, guarding Lebron.

why the hell does phil always dance around kobe guarding the other teams' best player? so what if kobe wastes energy on defense. we should be fine on offense without kobe getting 30 pts. we're too talented. lo, bynum, gasol should be good firepower for our offense while we cut the head off the snake so to speak

back when we had little offensive talent, i didnt want kobe guarding the other teams' best player because we needed him to carry us on offense. now it isnt like that anymore

Because Phil wants Kobe to have enough during endgame situations so he can bail his sorry ass because he can't coach close games. The tri may be holy but during endgames it's "give it to Kobe and get the hell out of the way" time.

I was thinking the same thing. Trevor might be too frail against LeBrons big body. And then of course Kobe will subject himself to foul trouble from the refs if he is on him. Despite the impeccable defense. I would go with Lamar.

But we already know it will be Luke.
