i really don't mind who starts as long as phil puts out the right players to finish. Even though Vlad is the starter, he only played 15 minutes while Ariza played 28.

Come on guys, blaming Bynum for not boxing out Dampier is not fair at all. A lot of those shots were ugly Dallas shots, and watching how they bounced out of there was impossible to judge. Rebounds in the 2nd half were much better and if you win the game...it doesn't matter that Dampier got 12 O-Boards.
The ball usually bounces to the team that's working the hardest. Our energy, intensity and hustle was seriously lacking at first. Not just Bynum.

Pretty ironic that both games we played on the road this season (Nuggets and Mavs) were won by 7.
sorry, but i hate it when people misuse "ironic". in these cases, it is coincidental. ironic is when something is completely opposite of what you expect

does anyone have team history stats on hand. what's the team record for most consecutive games holding opponents under 100? we have to be getting awfully close.
seriously, it's time for Rad to come off the bench and Ariza to start.
why? rad would only be effective with our first unit, and ariza is still going to finish off games, so it's better to try to maximize the talent we do have rather than give ariza a, imo, meaningless spot when he's going to get his minutes anyways.
and to give credit to dirk, he made quite a few of them.
Something is wrong with Dirk.
The guy is a better player than Gasol, or atleast a similar caliber player. Right now, and it's not just this game, he looks really sub-par.
I think all the losing, underachieving of his teams has gotten to him.
They need to shake up that Mavs team or Dirk needs a big change of scenery. Thing are looking worse and worse for him by the season, and this is a franchise caliber player we are talking about here. Once upon a time Dirk was one of the more feared shooters and offensive players in the NBA, now he looks average, there is no fear in playing him. This isn't something just based on tonight, I've seen other Mavs games and been noticing it since last year.
Not a big Dirk fan - but has great talent. As Marc Jackson would say "you're better than that!"

Dampier had 12 offensive rebounds, unacceptable.
That's on Bynum. First half Bynum was no good.
Actually getting out rebounded the way we did was unacceptable. It was a lack of energy, heart and hustle. They were outworking us in the beginning. Credit the 2nd unit for turning that around.
all those were not andrews fault. most of those came from guard penetration and when andrew rotated to stop penetration dampier rolled to the basket and scooped up the misses andrew was causing. you have to help the helper. in this case andrew got no help.
I'm not just singling him out. I thought the whole team lacked energy in the first half. But there were a couple of times where I thought Dampier just outworked him.

the worst thing about dirk is that you can actually have him covered with a slightly smaller player, and he'll still go to step back and fallaway jumpers all game long instead of taking it in and up strong like a 7 footer should.

Ironic is supposed to be used for something that is polar to your expectations. That sentence works because you the term "ex"-husband implys that you guys are not spending time near each other at all, yet you sit next to him. However, when talking about the 7 point road wins, it's not as if you aren't expecting a 7 point win.
Here are some other examples:
Ironic:
The fire station burned down.
The criminal who murdered the district attorney didn't get convicted.
Coincidental:
The Laker's won both their road games by 7 points!

The Mavs as a franchise still haven't got over the Finals loss. Its obvious. I think Rick Carlisle (sp?) will be good for them, but that team needs to be blown up, nuclear style. Then again, they already blew that team up (In all the wrong ways) when they traded for Kidd.
Dirk is on the fast street to being in the Pantheon of great scorers who just.can't.get.it.done. _________________ *sighs*
This team is completely dependent on Kobe in crunch time. The six times that we ran the offense and went away from Kobe
Missed shot by Odom
Missed shot by Gasol
Missed shot by Ariza
Missed shot by Fisher
Missed shot by Pau....but he gets bailed out by a foul call and there was no foul
Horrendous missed shot by Fisher....but we get lucky with that it falls into Pau's hand
We got very lucky. This team needs to develop some cajones in crunch time and stopping looking to Kobe to be their superhero. He can't do it every game on every possession.
Luke relives Phil's needs before every game...you know, Jeanie can't travel with the team. Phil just returns the favor by giving him minutes. But, Phil needs to have his priorities straight, he needs to put the team before his individual needs.

The problem is that the ball handler ( fish) or whoever looks for Kobe for round 10 seconds even though its clear Kobe isn't going to get the ball. The ball handler is therefore forced to scramble and a bad shot follows.
If Kobe is being denied like that, don't waste a good 10 seconds looking to feed him. That's flat out idiotic. Something needs to be done about that. _________________
