Outside of Monica Belucci and Jamie Lynn-Sigler I would have to say the best spot is this joint called
"Maggiano's" Little Italy Restuarant. There is a couple locations in SOuthern California. SOuth COast Plaza and Beverly Hills. |

I've been, its solid for a chain restaurant. A bit more upscale.....they kinda over do it with salt though. |

I'll second the following establishments:
ALEJO's TRATTORIA (one in Westchester and a better one in MARINA DEL REY).
- location of the Marina Del Rey location is corner of Lincoln Blvd. and Washington (between a donut shop and 7-11).
MAGGIANO's (reminscent of the other recommendation in this thread - CARMINE's)
- location is at the GROVE, 3rd and Fairfax
CARMINE's (the true predecessor to Buca Di Beppo) You eat her, you feel like you're in one a Godfather family dinner setting. HUGE portions and damn fine sauces, pastas, wine.
- location, as mentioned, Theater District in NYC
I'm trying to see if I can remember other LA italian spots:
Bay Cities has some GREAT sandwiches (i.e. Godmother!)
Il Fornaio - seems like a more expensive Olive Garden
-location all around LA, saw one in Irvine I think and most recently at El Segundo off of Rosecrans (close to Sepulveda).
Louise's - a bit more upscale than Il Fornaio and way better than Olive Garden
- location one in Santa Monica off of Montana and another in Brentwood off of San Vicente
can't really think of any other good Italian restaurants. Looking forward to other recommendations. I love pasta, and it SHOWS!!! |

I went there last weekend. Linguini Pescatore is awesome, as is the chicken parm. The meatballs weren't that great as I used to remember last time, they seemed overcooked. |
hmm...that sounds good. I shall try those next time. _________________ "It's just fo' decoration! That's it and that's all, man; we do it fo' decorations." -Lil Sis |

Baci, in SD, on Moreno blvd., is outstanding.
BTW, there isn't a restaurant that can touch my gorganzola, prosciuto, and pear rissoto. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

Is the one in Marina Del Rey really better? I've never gone to that one since I live closer to the one in Westchester.
One thing for sure, the parking is probably better if you go to the one in Marina Del Rey. _________________ "It's just fo' decoration! That's it and that's all, man; we do it fo' decorations." -Lil Sis |

George's in Kenneth Village, Glendale. WOW WOW WOW. The Gnocci is absolutely INCREDIBLE, and they also have Pizza that is one of the best I have ever tried.
Very low key place, not too many people know about it. Small and Cozy, good place for a date, small hole in the wall if you call it that. But the food is WOW WOW WHEE WOW! _________________ Deal Shrink |

The Big Ragu!
Ferraros in mid-town Ventura is authenic and good. Best I can remember is the Italian Villa in downtown Chicago. Also some great family restaurants on The Hill in St. Louis. I saw several featured on a Food Channel special recently. Actually, the only place I have lived that didn't have outstanding Italian food was Louisiana. Of course, there was no shortage of other great ethnic food there. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

That's him!
And you really didn't find any good Italian spots in Nawlins? That's wild but it actually makes some sense, considering they combined cuisines with Italian and Soul. _________________

HAHAHAHA, OMG, I totally didn't see that typo!!! hahahahah
Guess all that late night adult website surfing leads to some amusing Freudian slips, eh? hahaha
As for the MARINA DEL REY Location being better, I personally like the ALEJO's in MARINA DEL REY because I'm comfortable with the staff, they make the food taste good and it's a cozy little place. Very hole in the wall type place
I'm sure the WESTCHESTER location is of equal value at worst.
If you're closer to the WESTCHESTER, then there's really no reason to go out of your way for MARINA DEL REY Alejos |
