Scouting Report
Since our 111-107 win in Denver on December 5th the Nuggets have won 13 games and lost 7. They currently lead the Northwest division by a half game over Portland. The Nuggets have won two games in a row, beating Utah and Minnesota. This team is capable of beating anybody or getting beat by anybody.
In both our wins against Denver our bench beat Denver’s bench and that will be one of the keys again tonight. Our offensive efficiency that allows us to get into the best rebound/defensive balance formation will also be key. If we take good shots we should be able to get back on defense and minimize their early, easy scoring opportunities. To refresh your memory, Coach Karl preaches taking the ball to the basket and he wants 70% of their shots coming in the first 14 seconds of the shot clock. Denver leads the league in free throw attempts (31 per game) so they must be listening. This also means we must defend without fouling. Another Coach Karl mantra is the 30-30-30 code – that is 30 lay-ups, 30 free throws, and 30 assists. Denver ranks first in steals and blocks and they will look to use these to start their running game.
The Nuggets will start Camby at center, either Kenyon Martin or Linas Kleiza at power forward, Carmelo at small forward and Iverson and Carter in the backcourt. If Smith and Najera are the other players in their normal rotation. Since this is not a team that runs a wide variety of set plays, it is absolutely crucial that we recognize personnel. We need to know who their shooters are (Iverson, Anthony, Kleiza, Smith). We need to know who their drivers are (Iverson, Anthony, Kleiza, and Camby on occasion) We need to know who their slashers are (Anthony, Martin, Kleiza, Najera).
They like to give Camby some touches and shots early in the game so we should be ready for that. They don’t run a lot of plays but they can do a pretty good job of getting the ball from side to side. They will look for lobs so we must pressure their passers out top. They like to drop the ball to Anthony on the post and if the defense is out of position he will spin out for the lob. When crunch time comes they like to run a deep screen and roll with Iverson handling and Anthony setting the screen. Out of this they can either get something off the initial thrust, get Iverson on an isolation or post up Anthony. In their last game, Minnesota actually did a pretty good job defending this down the stretch. They didn’t handle the direct Anthony post up that well and they paid the price.

What does DTD stand for? If Martin has a Staph Infection, I don't think it's safe to allow him to play. If he gets clipped... I think Lakers should win this by around ten. No tacos, though.
Lamar is gonna have to step up x2 now cause he took out two of our players. _________________ 1) DO WHATEVER IT TAKES
2) DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!
3) TRADE ODOM, WALTON AND VLAD
No rebounds.... No rings - Pat Riley
We have to get some players that have that kind of aggressiveness that we need. - Phil Jackson
But... But.... I thought Odom and Luke were gonna stop him..... _________________ 1) DO WHATEVER IT TAKES

Minorbravo, I look forward to your scouting reports almost as much as I look forward to DBarry's recaps. Good job! I don't have time to watch all those teams. Glad to have you on board. _________________ Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.

I expect the Lakers to play great tonight....but of course if some of the players have brain farts I won't be surprised. Anyways I expect Kobe to do great...and Lamar has stated he will step up his game (we shall see) and Kwame knows he needs to do better as well. Maybe if the crowd chanted Kwame to get him motivated he'll do a bit better? One more thing I am excited about is seeing Mbenga play..though I doubt Phil will give him playing time.

I'm as against cheering Kwame as I am against booing him. Kwame, like Sasha, are emotional players who do not perform well when they're getting attention. If the crowd actively cheered Kwame, he'd try too hard and mess up.
