| I want to get my son an MP3 player for Christmas. He has about 14 GB of music and videos (I checked his iTunes library), and he used to always bring his 30GB iPod video to school (it broke yesterday when it fell out of his backpack). What MP3 player should I get him that is not over $250? |

iPod Nano... they are still the best. Or you can get the iPod Touch 16 gb

for that price i would go with the Ipod Classic. then the Ipod Nano.

Sony killed it's own product by making it originally for the ATRAC audio format only. Sony and it's love for proprietary formats... |

What about the iPod shuffle, which uses flash memory instead of a hard drive?

thanks maddox.
actually there is such thing as an ipod. it's an mp3 player designed by Apple. It generally has a click wheel interface. other models of Ipods employ a touch screen. you can usually identify them by their design.
for instance

I just can't imagine asking my gf for a "hard drive with software the plays mp3's... preferable one made by Apple". What if she gets me a Zune?

no joke. It's just that it seems as though a lot of people buy the ipod because they see a black silohuette (sp?) dancing and think it's cool to get one. I'm not saying you in particular. by reading your posts you seem like you know your (bleep). Don't mean to get all "anti-conformist" here , but everywhere i go, ipod this and ipod that. ipod ipod ipod.1) there are other mp3 players out there that are not ipods and 2) There's lots of other things to worry about and other things to do than worry about little gadgets that apple comes up w/ every year that we masturbate to. I'm just ranting and being an ass. It's just opinion and in no way directing it to anybody here. just ignore me.

its all good dude. I admire the marketing campaign for its effectiveness but they do kinda get on my nerves these days.

It's a Walkman cell phone. I got 2 gigs which is fine since I'm only interested in music on the go.
