I don't know what to think.... The Dodgers have had strong teams, in the past, but it's like "The Curse of the L.A. Teams"... Something, like the Lakers, or Clippers, things just turn rotten.

Lowe has had trouble living up to expectations. Same with Penny. Must be something in the L.A. Water, or something... These guys just don't seem to thrive, here. In fact, most everyone in the starting lineup had a tough time, at the end of last season.

On a bright note... Furcal and Pierre have been solid, dependable players, on other teams... Let's see what happens. Pierre is an on-base, and stealing machine, as you know.

I know what you mean, though... I can get excited about Schmidt, Wolf, and Billingsley, if they can stay healthy, and continue to find new life... Schmidt was a real workhorse, for San Francisco, and one of the most reliable, and dominating pitchers.

totally agree with you on that. The blue also need some middle relief in the worst way. I'm not sold on Dessens, Tomko and Hendrickson.

Dude there are a couple things incorrect about your post.

Lowe has been great since signed, the ace of the staff. You are correct about Penny though.
Pierre is NOT an on-base machine. In fact he has terrible plate-disclpine. Last year his OBP was 330 and the year before 326. Those are terrible numbers for a leadoff hitter or any hitter.

Well yeah, then the regular season starts and we think, "Time to get disappointed!"

As for the power hitter, what's going to happen is Jeff Kent is going to get hurt, which will require Nomar to play 2nd. Loney will play 1st everyday and will hit 35 jacks. Ethier will hit 30 and Betemit will hit 25. Not too bad for a Dodger Stadium team!

what happened to Gagne?

I stopped following the Dodgers a while ago.

But if they start winning a playoff game here and there it might entice me

he signed a one-year, incentive-filled contract with the Texas Rangers. I don't think he'll ever be healthy again.

I'm an Angels fan but I still feel for the guy. It's sad to see someone that good be cut short because of injury.

I don't think Lowe has been the same pitcher, for awhile... He could be better. Pierre was injured, and it took him awhile, to get back into it, but I'll stand by him... You'll see, as the season goes on... Pierre will be one of the more dependable hitter/scorers.

Okay, you're right, about Lowe... I just came back from looking at his season record... I guess, I don't remember too well, these days... I know that a lot of pitchers frustrated me, in fantasy baseball... They would go into a slump, and I would get rid of them, then they would do well, for someone else!!... Didn't Lowe go into a short slump??

That's really a tragic story... Maybe, the most dominating closer, in baseball... I guess, if you throw that hard, you can only expect to last so long... Some notable exceptions... Nolan Ryan,...

The Dodgers have a surplus of starting pitchers. They can trade Penny for a quality bat. But what quality bat?

Go Dodgers.

I am more optimistic about this team than in any time in the past 20+ years. As currently constitued, they have the best rotation in the league, and maybe in baseball. The lack of power thing is WAY overrated. It's how many runs you score, not how you get them. They scored plenty of runs last year and this team will probably score more if Kent bouncdes back.

There are many question marks, but that's baseball. All teams have them.
