How Long Will This Reunion Last?
"A Van Halen reunion tour, with David Lee Roth back in the fold after 22 years, is in the works, with a Las Vegas launch looking good. A late April date at the Palms' new venue, The Pearl, is "99 percent" likely, a source said. It would be the latest coup for Palms owner George Maloof, who will open the 2,500-seat venue..."

Is Michael Anthony coming back too, or is Wolfie handling the bass duties?

I used to watch them on the cheap when they were relatively unknown.

Lots of good bands played at the Starwood and Whiskey (Van Halen, Elvis Costello, Blondie) back in my day.

As far as I've heard, Michael Anthony is out and Wolfgang Van Halen is in on bass in this current incarnation of VH.

You were and are a part of Los Angeles history my friend. VH shot some of the scenes from Hot for Teacher at the soundstage around the corner from my house on Waring and La Brea! A great memory!

What year was it that VH did a surprise show at the Whiskey? I recall hearing about it - word of mouth of course - and there being a line 20 deep all the way down and around the block. Of course, only about 5% of the line actually got in to see the show, and I wasn't one of them.

Off topic here, but back in like, '77 or something, our neighbor had this crazy friend named Dave, who whenever he came over loved to torture me (being the youngest kid), by basically turning me into his own, personal rag doll. Throwing me up in the air, tackling me in football even though we were playing touch, wrestling me to the ground and only letting me up when I professed that he was the king of the universe. Well, I had no idea at the time, until the first VH album came out, that my tormentor was David Lee Roth. It made loving Van Halen that much cooler for me.

Doesn't Eddie make and sell his own tequila these days? I seem to recall seeing some interview of him talking about it. Gotta agree B_P, Dave has always been a scary lookin' dude. I'm guessing his ego will crush this reunion pretty quick...

^^

Sammy makes his own tequila.

Eddie has half a tongue.

Dave has half his hair - and yet, twice the ego.

Dusting off the cobwebs, it was back in 1977-8. It was an exciting time for the rock scene in LA, as we were epicenter for change. Bands that played with raw power and passion (punk, new wave, metal) were emerging, as a visceral response to the canned, synthesized crap that was we remember as disco.
