Except that this thread is about hip hop, not KC and the Sunshine Band. You can only go back so far with hip hop because it didn't exist 30+ years ago. No matter how old you are, "old school" means "when I was in junior high/high school".

Anyway, what is considered Old School Rap is late 80's, early 90's a.k.a Hip Hop's golden years.

M$! Instant Old Skool Party - The High Top Fade Joints Tried not to mention too much any1 else did. =/

Humpty Dance - Digital Underground

It has to start here. You ain't even havin' an old skool party without this overplayed (bleep). Still love it though
...
bonus "Same Song" When Pac dies he should be nighted or get an honorary PHD at ELAC or something.

Funky Dividends - Three Times Dope
Sorry mang, this song is still the (bleep). Real talk, and can you beat MC E.S.T.'s Gumby half-fro? Try it, YOU'VE BEEN DOUBLE DOG DARED!

Strobelight Honey - Black Sheep
Seriously, there's 10 or 20 of these at every damn club.
Undergroundhiphop's REAL AUDIO LINK (streaming) ...
bonus not such a party joint.. "The Choice Is Yours".

A Rollerskating Jam Named Saturdays - De La Soul
Did Q-Tip cameo in nearly every damn 90's party joint or what?
... segue..

Electric Relaxation - A Tribe Called Quest
It was a toss up between this one

and "Bonita Applebum". Good thing this internet shizz is free

Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody - Kidd N' Play
Did somebody mention a house party? I smell _ _ _ _ _!

Jackin' fo Beats - Ice Cube
Cube didn't make too much "party" stuff, but this one classifies. Damn, miss his old Bomb Squad sound.
...
bonus "Really Doe" Wal-Mart version.

I Don't Care - Audio Two
AHAHAHAAA! That Milk cat style still gets me.
...
bonus "I Get Tha Papers" (Top Billin' got bumped for this older joint just for the "Dict" line)
... ok time to dig a lil deepa..

Peachfuzz - KMD
I mean seriously, the song has Teddy Ruxpin, MC Hammer & Positive K references AND a cameo from MC Search (Third Bass). Doesn't get more 199x than that.
... now speaking of Third Bass...

Steppin' to the AM - Third Bass
Ok Search got a high top & glasses that make DMC turn in his grave (RIP). The next legit-enuff whiteboy group runnin' up behind the obvious Beasties'. Don't think so, find "Wordz of Wizdom". Pete Nice was umm.. nice?

The Show - Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick Forever tied together. This is MC'n.

... bonus "Children's Story" of course
and
... smoove party bonus "Keep Risin' to the Top"

... docubonus "Doug on the Beat Box"

Just A Friend - Biz Markie
You might gotta be drunk to bump this but damn if it aint fun
...
bonus "Vapors".. you know it was comin'

Turn This Mutha Out - MC Hammer
WHAT?!?!!! That's right, there was a time when Hammer actually wasn't a played out sorry sucka. This was it. Real talk, playing this still might get you kicked off DJ duties. Play at your own risk.
...
bonus (you know you want one) "Juicy Got Em Crazy" - Oaktown 357 HAHAHAA!

More Damn Joints.....

So Whatcha' Sayin - EPMD
The Green Eyed devil... no not Bush, Eric. Now hop to this.
bonus "Crossover"... damn more guns in these vids than anything you'd see these days.

How Ya Like Me Now - Kool Moe Dee
Oh SNAP! - WTF Happened to this dude. I mean seriously, did anybody rock that big ass shield pair of shades like Moe Dee?
...
bonus "I Go To Work" live on Arsenio Hall (HAHAHA!) Yeah Boy!

I Get The Job Done - Big Daddy Kane f Teddy Riley
Kane was the ultimate party rapper. Comin' out on stage in a bathtub no doubt.
...
bonus "Ain't No Half Steppin"

Rebel Without A Pause - Public Enemy
This live on MTV vid just plain tells it like it is... If anybody remembers saying "Cold Medina" for real, I got a 5 spot for ya...
...
bonus cause I gotta be political & gets my Big Daddy Kane in the same song "Burn Hollywood Burn"
... ok back to party mode...

Jack of Spades - BDP
Man that I'm Gonna Get You Sucka, movie was the illest. KRS had nostrils to challenge Patrick Ewing, but it don't matta' the joint was tight.
...
bonus "Love's Gonna Getcha'" Not a party song per say, but will get your old skool head's bobbin'.

5 Minutes of Funk - Whodini
Audio only on some foo's server. The song holds it's own. Ultimate B-boy anthem
http://brown-snout.com/music/5minutes.mp3 ...
bonus at bottom of page.

I Ain't No Joke - Eric B & Rakim
Come on man, since we're gazing upon the gods, you think I got anything funny to say? I don't wanna get smitten or sumpin'. Just listen.

bonus... "Don't Sweat The Technique"

godlike bonus "Follow the Leader"

Run's House - Run DMC - The Kings
Ok, watch this... watch the next clip. Stop and then get ready for the realist damn hip hop clip I've seen in a long ass time...

bone us... It's Tricky Yeah Penn & Teller were alive in 87, but the damn song don't start until 1:17 in. WTF?!

bone me... Run DMC & Whodini Flexin in '85

Start your party wit deez :b
