Got this from the Tru hoop blog:

Quote:
The Best Young Europeans Coaches and other experts from 22 countries were asked by El Mundo FIBA to choose the top ten young
European basketball players of 2006.

They are as follows

Spain's Rudy Fernandez
Italy's Andrea Bargnani
Turkey's Ersan Ilyasova
Spain's Ricky Rubio
Italy's Marco Belinelli
Greece's Sofoklis Schortianitis
France's Nicolas Batum
Spain's Sergio Rodriguez
Turkey's Cenk Akyol
Turkey's Hakan Demirel

A list that might come in handy during the next draft!!!!

Most of those guys are taken up by NBA teams.

The only guy left is arguably the youngest guy there, Ricky Rubio.

I would have loved Schortsianitis rather than Brian Cook...

Sergio was available for a few million, though I doubt Phoenix would have dealt him to the Lakers.

Marco Belinelli really intrigues me. Draftexpress projects him to falling to our laps in their mock draft.

I've been really intrigued about what I've seen and read about Ricky Rubio. At 16 years old he's already getting minutes in the Spanish ACB league, but we'll have to see how he develops over the next 2 years (he's not eligible until 2009) because we've all seen Europeans overhype their youngest players before. Aleksandrov and Chiriaev come to mind.

Nice article from draftexpress about the King's Cup, with recaps of Splitter, Fernandez, Rubio, and others.
