|
|
I purchased an Xbox 360 about a week before Christmas, and immediately I tried to connect to Xbox Live through my Linksys router. I’m not a total novice at this computer stuff and I’ve connected to Live using my regular Xbox (albeit at a different house) so I figured it would be pretty easy. However, when I try to go through the connection tests I can never pass the “DNS” test. I’ve called my ISP (Roadrunner) as well as the Xbox Live technical support numerous times and they couldn’t help me. I was thinking maybe it’s my router, so I tried to connect directly through my modem and that didn’t work either…I still failed the DNS test.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m dying to get on and beat you guys in NBA 2K7. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. |

Is your computer hooked up to the internet through the same router? Is the DNS setting on your Xbox set to Automatic? Is this also true on your computer? _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |

I havent tried this, but can you input the Ip/gateway/dns address manually like on the OG xbox?
Maybe you can do that. |

I checked, everything is set to automatic
Laker_Town,
Should everything have the same DNS as my PC? |

It should. If your PC is set to automatic, then your Xbox should be as well. If your PC has specific DNS servers assigned, then you should assign the same ones on your Xbox. _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |

As it turns out, one of the ethernet ports on my modem is bad. I swapped it out and was up and playing NBA2K7 against some buddies last night. Thanks for your help guys! |
