PostPosted: Mon Dec 04, 2006 9:03 pm    Post subject: Who makes the best burgers?

Following my earlier thread on the best wings, I am curious who makes the best burgers (not including any home made burgers)? Why do I ask? I just saw a Jack-in-the-Box commercial, and since I have never been to one (can't find them on the East Coast, at least where I travel), nor have I been to a Carl's Jr., I am curious how good they are?

I have some that I enjoyed, but not sure which is my favorite. Some of those at Fuddruckers (which I went to in DC, though there is one in MI) were good, and the buffalo burgers at Brickskellars in DC were also good, but I wouldn't swear my life to them.

What do others think? Where do you go for burgers when you want a good one?

Or are there a lot of McDonald's fans here?

mcdonalds, jack in the box,bk etc burgers suck because theyre microwaved.carls are a little better, but for the best burgers, no doubt in-n-out burger is number 1 if youre looking for quality, freshness, and great taste

In-N-out. hands down. I know it's only here on the west coast. But I really don't care where you live. In n Out is THE best. Second, Johnny Rockets. Third, Fuddruckers.

In N Out, Fatburger, The Habit, Tommy's. SoCal really has the best burger places. You won't find any of those in Michigan. There's a place called Topz that's pretty good. Two locations in MI: Troy and Birmingham.

Neither Carl's Jr. or Jack in the Box are in Michigan yet. The closest you'll find is Hardee's, which is owned by Carl's Jr. and has some of the same stuff.

I'm not a fan of In-n-Out. Just not a fan.

HOUSTONS and Father's Office make great burgers. Also, the Cheesecake factory does a good burger as well. I also love Islands' hawaiian burger...so good.

For fast food, I like Fatburger way more than In-n-out. I had in-n-out on saturday in fact..didn't really dig it....

Have any of you ever heard of Master Burger? It's down in the ghetto, I think near South Central. A co-worker of mine bragged that they made the LARGEST burgers you'll ever see in your life, and he wasn't kidding. One day, he showed up to work and the burger was about 6 inches thick, and the size of a whole paper plate all around. This thing was a monster. It must've had around 5,000 calories in it alone, and a few hundred grams of FAT. I ate a portion of it and it wasn't bad at all. I'm going down there one of these days and I'll take a picture of it for you guys. I swear, Huell Howser or somebody should go down there and show this thing on PBS or something. It's insane.

Cost?

Around $3.00, with FRIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

White Castle fires only come in one size!!! Well, they use too...

White Castle is probably my favorite (been eating them for two decades now).

Never had In-N-Out Burger, don't think they are on the east coast (same with Rally's and Sonic). Is it similar to Checkers (I know of 1 out here)?

For the most part,... in my area, it's BK, McD's, and Wendy's, with occassional Arby's.

Big on Cheesesteak out here.... THe best....... Geno's then Pat's in S. Philly

My favorite is from a chain in the midwest called Steak-N-Shake. Though their burgers are not as big as they use to be

I've never had a burger from there. always get chicken fingers. don't like their fries though. have been to fuddruckers a few times, their burgers are pretty tasty. I've been to in and out once, and it was tasty for a fast food burger. max & erma's had this really good mozzerella burger, not sure if it's still on the menu.

Anyone ever tried The BBQ King on Sunset and Figueroa. Awesome ribs but their burgers are great. Huge patty but full of flavor and cuts like butter

I forgot about Islands. Islands has the best gourmet burger I've ever had. Just got a love Socal for their burgers. And burgers just happen to be my favorite grub.

It's already been said...

Fast Food: In-N-Out, Fatburger, Tommy's....I also like the Greek hole-in-the-wall joints like Paul's Place.

Dine-in: Islands all the way.

Next time I go to Max & Erma's I will check the menu and let you know.

By the way, all this talk about burgers made me hungry, so I got a burger in a local bar type joint. It was OK. Not bad, not the best.
