I find it hard to believe you can't find good Chinese food in Los Angeles. Next thing you know, someone will tell me they can't find a good Mexican restaurant in San Antonio.

what area?

Westside: Good Luck
Hollywood: See Above

You have to go to the San Gabriel Valley, where they have the best Chinese food in North America.

Tons of great stuff on Atlantic Blvd in Monterey Park. Dim Sum, seafood, etc.

Ocean Star, Seafood Village, NBC Seafood, New Concept, etc. Lots of great stuff.

Sam Woo's is a good chain. Don't go to the Sam Woo Express ones though.

im so hungry, i can't stop posting.

you're right, there are limitations to chinese food if you're vegetarian (can you do seafood)? basically you're stuck with fried noodle dishes, fried rice dishes, stir fried vegetables, and veggie dumplings - which din tai fung is fabulous for. (i went to a vegetarian chinese restaurant in nyc, and the entire menu was basically fake-duck, fake-beef, fake-pig tongues, etc...)

if you want a lot of varieties when it comes to vegetarian/tofu, you should try korean - there are a lot of great items like..."soon dubu", a hot tofu stew dish (you can get it mild or hot), "kal guk soo", flat-pressed noodle soup, "ja ja myon", chinese/korean black bean noodles, "naeng myun", cold buckwheat noodles, bi bim bab of course, etc. etc...good korean places include (Dong Il Jang on W. 8th and Yong Su San on Vermont and Choson Galbi on olympic)

im getting korean tonight.

there's a restaurant close to me called happy veggie garden... i don't eat meat, either, so we go there quite often.

i googled, and this is all i could find on it.
LINK

there's another restaurant, happy family (which, i've been told is owned by the same people), but the food isn't as good as hvg.

They have good places in the Alhambra area.

I like going to this restaurant on Valley and New Ave called U2. It has cheap food and it's pretty good.

There are plenty of good places in Alhambra and Monterey Park in established Chinese American communities. They are very competitive, so the quality is high and the prices are very reasonable.
