Me:
(1) James White -- 6'7, reports of freakish athleticism, good D attitude and potential.
(2) Jordan Farmar -- 6'2", underrated strength and defense, pure PG skills.
(3) Mardy Collins -- 6'6", good length, good D fundamentals being a Temple guy, good PG skills from what I hear.

BP and Mike -- True enough. if Rondo comes down, he'd merit a good look. I just worry about his lack of stroke. A PG who shoots sub-60% FTs is a concern for me. I just really like Farmar because I think his abiltiy to produce in Howland's deliberate half-court system, plus his ability to still create or hit when the shot clock is down below 6, is sorely needed on this team. Plus, his pick and roll skills can be a benefit to both Cook and kwame -- look what Farmar was able to do with Hollins, who has similarly great length but lousy hands, a la Kwame.
Mike -- While I respect Gansey and Pittsnogle for what they did at WVa, not to mention beating my Bruins, their lack of defensive quickness and athleticism worries me. Worse comes to worst, I'd take Pittsnogle, a steady, smart, savvy player. Yeah, he's a mostly perimeter player, but he's a 255-lb. perimeter player, so unlike Cook, he has the bulk to bang with. Offensively, he can complement Kwame. Defensively? Ugh.
More than anything, I want us to get back to the old West cocnepts of speed and quickness. Farmar may not have bliding lateral quicks, but at Orlando he was above-average in all athletic categories. Those can be harnessed to our advantage, IMO. If he turns into a Fisher with more pure PG skills and a step more speed, I'm SOLD.
If Banks really is a near-lock, then having a strong and quick 6-7 guy like Flight White at the 3 sure doesn't hurt one freaking bit. About darn time we had some interchangeable wings on defense again.

I just think Rondo's DEFENSE is something we REALLY need.
Fisher wasn't a great shooter his first few years. You can learn to improve your shot - after all, we have Craig Hodges as our shooting coach.
But his SPEED, LENGTH, QUICKNESS and his ability to steal and disrupt opposing PG's is just too good to pass up.
I hope he falls!! _________________ Everything. Changes. |

About Rondo. The shot is ugly. But I can't deny how skilled and athletic he is everywhere else. He's an uptempo PG on a triangle offense team that needs to implement uptempo play, a concept lost in PJ's triangle offense but a phase within the exeuction of the offensive set.
As for Gansey, I think he's an underrated man-defender. IQ off the chart.
Pittsnogle is basically a bigger Brian Cook, purer touch. Simply a pick and pop guy. A guy like that is a steal late in the 2nd round. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Shawne Williams ...only 19 years old, most likely a top 10 pick if he stayed for next years draft, more upside with him than the others that may fall to us.....
James White ...Hearing nothing but grat things, more ready than Williams at 23.
Rajon Rondo (will be gone anywhere before 17 I believe)
Shannon Brown (Will go from 15 to 21)
Thabo Sefalosha ( all over the baord from 16 to 28)
Farmar (will go anywhere from 17 to 24)
Lowery ((looks like a lock with the at 21 to 23,to the Suns or nets)
Diaz (Late 1st round) probably there when we pick)

let me ask you guys something. what else can white do besides jump high? I mean really do. shooting mid to low 30's in 3pt% in college, is nothing to talk about, when you're a swing man in the nba. I know they say he is good rebounder. but how good? is he shawn marion good on the glass? Jumaine Jones(good rebounder for his size)? I also haven't heard anything about him blocking shots with all that jumping ability. that tells me he doesn't have the timing down. I just want to know, is it all about the Flights and thats it? |
