Just because NBA.com reported it or because LeBron said so?

Quote: | The Cavaliers can make James a maximum offer July 1. When the moratorium ends July 12, he can sign a five-year deal worth approximately $75 million - a deal many naysayers predict will never come.
If James rebuffs the Cavaliers' offer, then it's time to panic.
But for now, both sides are saying all the right things.
"Of course, I want to stay," James said. "This season has really put me in a good frame of mind as far as me being a part of this organization for a long time - the great teammates that I have and a coaching staff that I really enjoy being around."
The negotiations should be cut-and-dry. He will get the maximum amount possible.
"Hopefully not," James said when asked if the negotiations would take long. "We can come to an agreement that's suitable for both sides." LINK |
LeBron is saying that hopefully the negotiations won't take long. What is there to negotiate in a max-offer? We'll know for sure on July 12th - if he signs, then that's it; but if he doesn't, then he probably won't, cause why would he wait? The mods should change the headline, it's not a done deal, James is just saying the same thing that all players say in this situation (unless they play for the Clippers, which is where you get comments like how the worst day of that person's life would be if the Clippers re-signed them ). _________________ "People don't think it be like it is, but it do." - Oscar Gamble
Just a reminder folks: "a lot" is two words. So is "no one". |

If Cavs even try to negotiate a max offer with Lebron. he's gone. This is how Orlando lost Shaq. Cavs will offer James the max immediately- no negotiations. James will accept since he already has all the hype and all the endorsements to pick from. Same situation with Bosh and Heinrich, lakers can only hope that Toronto and Bulls are as stupid as Orlando or the old Clippers |

So can Mitch and Buss wake up and offer the MLE for more than two years and get some players who can actually play. _________________ Ringo "You retired too?"

Are you really putting Heinrich in the same sentence as Lebron James and Chris Bosh? Please tell me no... please... |

I'm still not convinced he's totally committed to staying in Cleveland. Dunno where he'll go and Cleveland can obviously offer him the most money, but I think he'll explore his options. _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |

money wont lure this kid. only winning. hes got enough money in his shoes alone.
this is the ultimate draw as to why top flyte free agents have flocked to LA. the ability of our franchise to build a winner.
now with that said, that is the only way a guy like lebron would leave cleveland for LA. constantly losing or not winning the championship.
he will sign with the cavs. and if the LAKERS would EVER have a chance at a talent like his, it would have to be with 5 years of nothing to show for it. right now, hes livin off the high of the second round. so he will re-up with the cavs. but again, within the next years, he could turn into a malone, barkley, KG etc. guys who want to win, and have no need for monetary gain.
hes going to re-up with the cavs. the recent success in the playoffs has made sure of that. _________________ Los Angeles Lakers |

Listen to some of you guys... You remind me of some poor dude who, after being rejected for a date, says "She doesn't realize it yet, but she really likes me". |

Just for the record, I don't particularly want Lebron to come to L.A. and I don't think he will. I just don't see him staying in Cleveland. Who knows, maybe they get another 2nd tier superstar and Mike Brown turns into the next Phil Jackson, but I just don't see it right now. _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |

Oh no! And all this time I actually thought that there was a decent chance that he wouldn't re-sign with the Cavs! I don't know what to believe anymore. Black is white, up is down... |
