The only rumor from 2010 I remember was that trade proposal of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant for Kobe Bryant.

As someone else pointed out, we've heard a different version of this rumor that only involved Bynum for Melo. And the reports back then were that Jim Buss was the one that turned down the trade, much to the dismay of Kobe and Phil.

I would've done that version of the trade without thinking twice about it (especially if it means keeping Odom).

This newer version of the trade involving Odom and Nene... I still think you have to do it, especially considering how we know things played out. Lakers still get the best player in the deal in Melo. It would've refreshed a Lakers roster that was fatigued after 3 straight Finals runs and could've potentially saved Kobe's legs.

It would have been interesting. Odom was 6th man of the year in 2011, but after the Cp3 trade was a different man. Same for Pau until he went to Chicago. Would we still go fpr CP3 and/or Dwight if we pulled this off? Fisher, Kobe, Artest, Melo, Pau, Nene is a good group. Add Nash to the mix 2 seasons later and it has potential to be a powerhouse offensively. Defensively tho, we suffer

Would it have made a difference? In 2011, maybe. Miami crumbled and maybe Dallas was beatable with Kobe and Melo. 2012 i think Miami pulls through, or maybe CP3 and Dwight make a difference elsewhere and there is a new surprise factor. 2013 i dont think we win either, but maybe Kobe doesnt get hurt and he played in MVP form that year, so him and Melo would help in recruiting another potential star maybe.

Long story short, maybe we win one more, but thats already the max.
