That I'm cool with, I'd love a defensive identity for the Lakers. But I don't like this roster for that concept (between AR, DLO, Rui).
I don’t think any of those 3 players are on the team next season.
You think DLO is gonna walk? Otherwise doesn't really make sense to let him go from an asset management POV.
AR/Rui going out in trades makes sense. I just hope it's for an actual needle mover
The Timberwolves coaching staff, empowered by Finch and energized by chemistry, is a true asset
“The chemistry on the staff is really high. It’s at the point where at halftime, a lot of times I don’t even talk to the defensive guys. They kind of know what they need to do. We’ve talked enough through the game. They’ve got their stuff ready to go. I might say one or two things I think needs to be a point of emphasis, and they’ve already got it covered,” Finch said. “Practice, everyone has their domain. I’ve got an immense amount of trust in everything these guys do, and so do the players. It’s probably one of the best and highest-functioning staffs I’ve ever been a part of, which is a credit to those guys.”

If DLo opts in he’s getting traded. Or he walks. Or he re-ups on another deal that’s designed for him to be traded. I think any which way you slice it he won’t be a part of our plans. We’ll see. _________________ 14-5-3-12

KCP/MPJ/Gordon scored 4, 5, 7, points in the loss at home in a game 7. I bet not many Denver fans are saying that about them. I bet most want them back because of the games the trio helped win regardless of the games they lost with subpar performances. I get that they won a ship and Dlo/AR/Rui hasn’t, still, those guys won games for the Lakers last season after the trade deadline, and this season in Feb/Mar/Apr at a championship rate without a bench and with a poor coach.
If actual wins on the court was regarded appropriately we could capitalize on their ability to win games and add a supporting cast to get to a ship, but sadly we won’t. We’ll switch them out for a new set of players like many times before and those hypothetical wins on paper with the new payers won’t translate to actual wins on the court at the same level of success as the players we should have kept.
That’s my expectation, could be wrong, or it could turn out just like it has the past few years, again. _________________ “When it looks as if it is a realistic possibility, I want to focus on winning a ship like it’s a goal that can’t be denied. I didn’t see that this off season.”

Yeah, I'm where tox is. Don't just lose the salary slot for nothing. At least sign him, if for no other reason to flip him after Dec. 15. And I know some will say "but a trade isn't guaranteed. OK, perhaps it isn't, but I prefer taking the small risk that he's untradeable vs. simply losing the salary slot for nothing. Keep him and at least keep the potential flexibility to make a trade later.

Absolutely. Him walking for nothing is the worst outcome. I just think even if he’s retained he’d be moved. It’s a concern that his trade value wasn’t great at the deadline despite having the best year of his career but if he were an expiring maybe he would have been more appealing. I think there’s a strong chance he’s back in some capacity this summer. The market for him might not be as strong as he thinks it should be. _________________ 14-5-3-12

DLo, Reaves, AD, LeBron together are needle movers.
They needed a better Coach, and better Coaching. Again, a better Coach doesn't lose to the Nuggets when leading for that long of the series. An a better Coach doesn't waste a month of the season on bad ideas.
If that doesn't happen and the Lakers win just 51-52 games and we're the 4th/5th seed. We'd have played the Clippers first and then the Thunder, and now the T'Wolves. And this season is looked at completely differently.
Anyone that wants to win an NBA Championship wouldn't either.
Some people on here last year were really trying to argue DLO was better than Conley. Guess the Wolves were just dumb for wanting to get rid of DLO! _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
Oh don't tell people how he helped DLO become a better defender. They want to stick to their agendas _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:
