Miami is currently last place in the east with 17 games to play. The MLS has a wild card round so 9 teams per conference make the post season. It would be fun to watch Messi push them in to the top 9 and go in a little run.
Wow, it looks like all the MLS teams have cancelled their local TV contracts. Galaxy used to be on one of the networks, I thought LAFC was as well, but now it’s all AppleTV except for a handful of marquee games on Fox and FS1. I’m tempted to pay the $39 for this season and start following before Messi’s arrival.

Apple paid big money for those TV rights. I'm guessing they want to ensure they have exclusivity.
Messi is too good for the MLS. But the temptation of partial ownership in the league in the future is very tempting for the biggest soccer stars that have made their name in Europe.
Messi playing in the MLS would be like MJ deciding to go to play European basketball after his 1st retirement. Dude is just gonna clean up and force these guys to raise their game. It was only 7 months ago that he won in the biggest soccer tournament so playing in the MLS is going to be a piece of cake.

Messi is at the perfect point where he’s likely going to drop off enough to not get back to that world best in the best championship. But he can make a fortune and have fun being plenty good enough for MLS. And help the league. It’s like Deniro’s movie choices these days. He’s done it all, let him have fun (plus, deniro has a new mouth to feed, but that’s another story). _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Messi is playing again tonight. Let’s see if he can make it 5 wins in a row.
The MLS is still in a mid season tournament with Liga MX so none of these games count towards the regular season. Miami is in last place in the East and needs to get to 9th to make the playoffs.
I have always wondered what it would be like if Kobe in his 30s, decided to retire and play in the D league instead...
Now I know, thanks Messi. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold & contain life, but the quality of life doesn't change. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it."
It is very cool to see people realize the brilliance of Messi. To some extent, because a lot of the biggest American sports stars are those who play a sport where the biggest leagues are in America, it's probably surprised some people to see how big of a star Messi really is. _________________ Lakers, Chargers, Dodgers, Arsenal FC.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Inter Miami win the MLS championship this year. Messi and his friends joining the club have made the rest of MLS look like amateurs in comparison.

I never saw him play that open and unbothered anywhere before. It really feels like he joined a third league in Europe. Makes for a fun story so far...
I'm sure the MLS loves the media attention, sponsors and ticket sales that Messi has brought to the league. That being said with him onboard it shows how big the gulf is between futbol in Europe compared to that in the USA.
Inter Miami wins the Leagues Cup! The final went to 11 rounds of penalty kicks, which means the goalies had to shoot. Miamis goalie kicked an absolute dagger goal and Nashville’s goalie kicked a dud that was blocked.
These in season tournaments were 7 wasted wins for the MLS regular season as Miami still sits in last place.
Messi pretty much threw a monkey wrench in the 2023 MLS season. Even though Miami have the worst record we know they are by far the best team with Messi and friends. This isn't the same squad that started the season. The question is whether they can win enough games to qualify for the playoffs.

What was the thing they just won on penalty kicks if it wasn’t the championship? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

They are playing the equivalent of the NBA midseason tournament.
Messi and his team won another game on Wednesday, but it was another in season tournament, the US Cup or something. He will play his first regular season game tomorrow.
