I like the signing. At least we got younger. His 3 ball is encouraging. I wonder if he is defensively capable. |

Bad - so how is he on D? Seeing mixed stuff out there. |
His defense is non-existent, but he's also pretty young (23). He can learn and his measurables are not bad along with his natural athleticism.
Edit: he is 23, not 22

If he has his demons in check, this is a fantastic signing by Rob. _________________ Everyting negative - pressure, challenges - is all an opportunity for me to rise.

Indeed it has. I didn't have a clue Kendrick Nunn was in play. After all the "over 30" signings yesterday, it's nice to mix in a little youth and athleticism. |

Love this move - someone needs to mentor him and keep him away from any bad ish, cocaine use is no joke
Might be a guy who can start at SG |

Charlotte fans seem to love him and just reading up on it seems like with the right guidance, dude can really pop.
Handy on the court and some big bro Lebron/AD off the court. |

Getting a young ascending player like Monk for the minimum is an absolute coup. He could very well be a long term piece for us. Love this move.
I got faith in Vogel to instill some defensive fundamentals in the kid. _________________ The butter's hard and the eggs are chillin' in the dark.

He got suspended for cocaine use. It would make sense why Charlotte let him go. |
well it is a helluva drug. |

Watching some Malik Monk highlights and man, if we can get him focused we have a baller on our hands. Dude is super athletic, has a good shot, and has good handles. He can also create his own shot and makes some very nice passes. And to think we got him on a veteran's minimum. I'm REALLY liking this move.

Dropped 47 in a win vs. eventual national champion UNC early in his one and only season at UK.
Won the Jerry West award that year as nation’s top shooting guard.
Didn’t play a ton of D or hit the boards hard enough, but he could get white hot in a hurry from deep. Nasty athlete at the rim as well.
Monk is one of my favorites. No reason he can’t play at an All Star level eventually with the right focus and coaching. |

If he shoots 40% from 3 again this year we are a very dangerous team. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Thanks Bad. Welp, hopefully he gets better at it. Or we know what Vog does with those who do not...and especially if they are young. _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. He truly has no idea that he’s not as good as he thinks." - Killer_Z |

I’m real interested to see this guy. Was his defense mostly lack of effort or more just didn’t have the awareness/instincts? He seems to have all the physical tools. |

Big fan of Monk when he was in college, so I'm really excited about this pickup. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but if he develops and plays well this year, what type of contract can we give him next offseason? Do we have his bird rights, or would we have to use the vet min/MLE? |

I would just say he wasn’t as focused on the defensive end as he could have been. The lack rebounding really stood out, but it was forgivable because he could drop 30 at any time.
That was an incredibly fun backcourt beside DeAaron Fox. Monk actually won some games by himself during conference play when Fox was hurt. Monk was electric. |

ESPN had his value at 8M according to their analytics
Nunn at 11M.
Not sure what we told them that they signed so cheap, but for sure I would guess it was some sort of role around James/AD.
Monk’s D will need to prove itself to Vogel, but just on offense, there’s no way he has ever played with the type of 4th option openings he would have with Westbrook/AD/James. Damn anyone taking those wing and corner spots next to them is getting some open looks. |
